Oh right, I didn't mention this yet - 12/1/24

SO the update is not completely finished yet. All the art stuff on my side is done and I'm over 1.5k lines deep into Jehu's update. The end is in sight!

But what on Earth is keeping me this long? This update's already a month late, what's the holdup?

Wellll....

This is Alex (also known as "whatever you decided to name him"). His memory is pretty bad, he's a teasing goofball, and has a passion for stories. Cute guy, right?

Well-

 

(Sorry, I only have the swimsuit on hand and I'm too lazy to export a full version of his casual outfit... kinda)

This, too, is Alex. As you eagle-eyed viewers may have picked up on, he's got a different pose! Why, his arms are at his sides! How crazy! How novel!

But this, my dear patrons, is where I turn the table on its head, so to speak. For you see...

 

What's this!? His arms moved!  Not only that, but his head seems to have tilted down. What sorcery is this??

It's no sorcery, my friends! It's- ok, I'll stop with the theatrics.

The bottom line is that Alex here is getting a rather SIGNIFICANT upgrade- one that will SLOWLY be phased in to other sprites as well. That's right- characters are going to be getting new heads and arms!

 

(This is what I meant when I said kinda)

Alex now has a total of 3 different arms and 4 different heads, each with matching outfit and expression pieces for each other. I'd show off the fourth head, which is pointed right for a side profile, but I don't really have a good image to show that off right now. Trust me when I say it's pretty cool, though!

 

This was quite a bit of work. As the MC, it makes sense that he'd have the most number of outfits and expression pieces. However, that did make it something of a pain to put all together. In fact, MC is what I was working on for most of the month.

That said, I made another sprite pretty recently-

He's a fellow by the name of Ruben! He's actually been mentioned once in-game, if you know where to look (and are lucky enough to see it). He'll be getting his debut soon in Jehu's next update- and, just like Alex, he's got the same arm-head thing going on. The only difference is that, well, he only has one pair of arms and a single head to work with. Plus, only one outfit.

That said, he was MUCH faster to finish than Alex's, even with all of that in mind. I think I'm more or less figuring out the right method to do these things, which will definitely come in handy next month, since Paul will be getting the same treatment.

I also managed to get Rob's art done for this update, so look forward to that! I probably said that earlier in this post, but here's a sneak peek at it :]

(I also updated Jehu's gloryhole scenes visually to match his new dong. I assume I've talked about that, but if I haven't then just now it's more straight instead of curved now, and just a SMIDGE smaller. It looks pretty good though, but I'm sure you all will be the judge of that.

I'll try to implement MC's whole head-and-arms thing, but it's unlikely to make an appearance in the actual content of the update since, right now, I'm just trying to write it all up. I expect I'll go back and add in the various pose changing and head tilting and such at a later date.

And, just in case you were wondering, this SHOULD NOT break any saves. (So you should be good!)

As someone dabbling with creating sprites for vns, let me say that is quite an impressive set of poses. It's so easy to take for granted when reading a novel with characters having multiple standing poses, but creating them with standard proportions, multiple expressions, and the sheer amount of combinations it creates to keep track of adds up fast. Not to mention how much time it takes! I appreciate many of the small things you do in your vn; the subtle animations, the great use of transforms, the stylized coloration. Great work as always!
