Close Patreon or pivot to Animation Studio?

Hey Patrons. It's been a while since I finished the Major Arcana Tarot deck. Things have been pretty quiet since. I am thinking about closing the Patreon, since Forming is currently on an extended hiatus. During the lockdown I was largely unemployed and the Patreon actually saved my butt and helped me pay part of my rent during a very risky time for me. For that I thank you all for helping me survive Los Angeles' brutal cost of living.

I don't know how many of you know but for the past year and 1/2 I've been working 10-16 hours a day on two animation projects: A 7 minute pilot for Cartoon Network called Hungy Ghost and another 7 minute pilot I've been developing independently called Jesus 2. Hungy Ghost is done. And I have no idea what will happen with it because Cartoon Network is basically a shell company now that the streaming industry is collapsing in on itself.

Jesus 2 is a financial experiment I've been working on in the crypto space. I've been grinding on this and basically started my own small animation studio called Studio Picatrix to try to gain creative independence from the development gatekeepers and corporate monoliths such as Amazon, Hulu, Netflix etc... I raised enough funds by making an nft collection of the characters to fund a 7 minute short film. But I realize that a lot of people are pretty averse to crypto and nfts so I kept all that separate from my Patreon. As a result (because I don't have clones of myself) I've been pretty absent from the Patreon and my personal website.

My question is this: since people might still be interested in the future of my endeavors to make independent animated features, complete Forming and adapt it to animation, and possibly develop ideas of other creators that I admire, would my Patrons be interested in supporting my work this way? This would be an alternative income stream for my animation work and building up Studio Picatrix.

If I see enough interest in this, I will make a more in depth video to explain how I would pivot the Patreon to reflect animation production. Thanks for taking the time to read this and please let me know what you think.

Thank you,

Jesse

PS I attached a rough animated clip so you can see a bit of what Studio Picatrix is making.

So happy to hear you pivoted into more decentralized forms of funding rather than trying to appeal to the old gatekeepers. I'd love to support funding your animations through NFTs :)

Making a Manly cartoon is on the table as a possibility in the future If things go well

Bronos

I'd love to see you crowdsource funding to continue Manly as well.
