A lot of what we do on The Cartoon Cipher simply wouldn’t be possible without the generous assistance of Marissa Lenti. Having worked in almost every position of the anime dubbing pipeline, her perspective on the practice is thoroughly developed. At Otakon this year, the English dub of the hit series Kemono Friends premiered, for which Marissa both wrote the adaptive script and was the voice director. I was able to sit down and chat with her about what it was like dubbing such a special title, among the other dubs announced at Otakon that she’s involved in. We go in-depth regarding her beliefs on localization, the journey of producing the Kemono Friends dub, and what the show personally means to her. Hope you all enjoy!
