Merry Christmas, everyone!

I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday season! I wanted to take a moment to update you on everything happening behind the scenes. I wish this post could have been a release announcement, but December has been a month full of responsibilities and compromises for me. That said, I’m looking forward to having more free time once January starts. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Big News: I’ve hired an employee. Thanks to your amazing support, I’ve brought someone on board to help with the more time-consuming tasks. He’s still in training but making excellent progress, and don’t worry, I’m keeping him well-fed.

Small Complex 4.0 Upcoming Update

Here’s what you can expect:

-Returning Features: All the content from the demo is making its way back into the game! This includes the follow command and in-game scenes scattered across the world, with updates to better fit the new version. Most characters will also have unique scenes in-game as the content grows.

Player Calendar: I’m adding a calendar system where you can track events, set reminders, and plan activities. This will help you stay organized and keep up with everything happening in the game.

NPC Map: A new map will track NPC schedules and locations. While the final version is still in development, I’m working hard to program it effectively to make it as useful as possible.

Weather Events: Rain effects are coming! On rainy days, your crops will be automatically watered. I’m also brainstorming how weather could influence scenes and characters—more on that soon.

Farm Growth: You’ll soon be able to expand your farm with docks, barns, furniture, and even residences for NPCs. This is still in the planning stages, so feel free to share your ideas!

Rebalancing Gameplay: I’m tweaking the grind to make it more engaging and fun while reducing unnecessary frustration.

Big Long Complex

First off, BLC is not dead. I’ve been quietly working on it, and now that I have an employee, much of his training involves helping with BLC.

Right now, I’m taking a step back to evaluate the direction of the game. When the original version was released, so much happened in rapid succession that it led to multiple reworks in a short period. Now that Small Complex is on solid ground, I want to carefully plan out what kind of game BLC should be.

Some questions I’d love your input on:

Should we bring back elements from the original, like 3D?

Should we stick with 2D on Ren’Py?

What aspects of BLC made it interesting to you?

No matter what, all content from previous versions will be fused into one, so there’s that to look forward to! I’ll make a longer post once we’ve figured out more and can collaborate with the community to decide the game’s future direction.

All of these scenes and much more have been remade with the improved meshes, faces, bodies by our handsome new enployee.

Lastly, I’ve been working on smaller projects here and there, mostly as a way to keep myself entertained and take breaks from these larger undertakings. I’m not sure if these side projects will ever be released, but at the very least I wanted to share some of them.
