The ranks go Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Saint, King, Emperor, God. Rudeus is technically a saint class water mage, but he's been practicing in the demon continent for a few years so he's likely a little higher than that. Gallus was a north God saint which means he's actually stronger than Rudeus by a fair bit. That's the reason Rudy was so scared to fight him. He was outclassed and was probably going to die. Even Geese says "take care of things if I die." because hes not sure they'll win even with his and the spirit puppy's help.
