While I can't fault Eloise for her choices, she's putting a lot more than Thomas & Camilla's lives on the line with her continued choice to remain silent on what Sevvi/Shadow is doing. Though as I noted in a reply to another subscriber's comment, it's Sevvi who's risking the most by trying to play so many angles...she has to put Thomas in enough danger to make him likely to die to make her protection racket seem the only long-term solution for Last Hope, but can't let him actually die due to being enough of a mystery to peak even the Dark Elf Queen's interest and allow her brat daughter to play rouguish brigand in the Darkwoods instead of acting like a (Dark Elf) princess.

2026-03-20 15:21:22 +0000 UTCIf Sevvi found a way to lure, persuade or forcibly relocate The King of the Forest so close to the boundary of the Darkwoods, then she can do the reverse if It looks like Thomas is going to die too easily to the canine kaiju...it's her only play: tossing threats at Thomas and seeing how he responds but not risking his life completely, so she can milk his potential long enough to let her live away from Mommy Dearest.

Awful first impression with Camilla, forever damsel in distress Eloise, shadowy background schemer who's only interested in herself Sevvy. My opinions will obviously change over time, but this is probably the longest of your stories I've read where I genuinely don't like any of the women presented lol

2026-03-20 01:16:31 +0000 UTCSo, is Sevvy also supposed to be a love interest? Cuz wow, kinda hoping she gets a rather final introduction to Thomas's spear so far. The reveal that she's a royal brat running from home would maybe help, if she wasn't also the exact kind of sociopath who should stay living with Dark Elves (from her interactions so far at least). Having Camilla finally believe Thomas is nice progress to see, but "I understand why you treated me like shit." isn't exactly a rave review. Interested to see this grow more. Eloise has been put into a shit situation and I doubt I'd choose differently in her shoes. But it doesn't change the fact she's also broken trust with Thomas and is hoping everything just works out so that she doesn't have to choose between saving her father and exposing the architect of Last Hope's problems. Again, while I understand and would likely make the same choice, I also understand that this choice is not morally correct and should and would probably taint any future interactions with those involved. Sevvy is just so far a straight up antagonist. Especially for extorting Eloise, which has destroyed the budding relationship between Eloise and Thomas so far.
