[Behind the Scenes] - Timelapse of a render

Hi guys,

I've been posting almost every day since the release of Chapter 5... Kinda crazy... anyway...

I thought today I'd share a peek behind the curtains of how we make certain complicated renders for the game. A lot of people are under the impression that creating this stuff is pretty straight-forward and easy, but let me tell you, it really is NOT. Stable Diffusion is trained on a certain amount of data, some good, some bad, but most... are mediocre. Which is why checkpoints and refined checkpoints are crucial in order to have access to a better dataset.
I won't go into detail of how all of that works, but basically, there's a lot of randomness involved and if you want it do something that it isn't trained on... well... good luck. There are ways around that though and we use those "special techniques" a LOT, just so that we can create renders in the exact way we envision them or at the very least, as close as possible.

That is without taking into account all the post processing in photoshop to get rid of artifacts and other inconsistencies. Some images take... 5 minutes of work, others take multiple hours. It all depends on how complex the scene is.

So here's a little video of how one of our team members (Pepega.) made a render for the final scene of Chapter 5. Truly astonishing work to see it in a timelapse like that.
