Updated album IV tracklist

This heavy album - the most production-heavy Ridleys album to date - communicates everything it needs to in these eight tracks. Every song, especially Lightness, feels like a punch in the gut. The album isn’t mainly about grief anymore (that topic might have to wait until album 7), but about anxiety. It’s about the uncertainty of the future (27); the fear of losing the memory of your childhood best friend (Life Goes On); the tightness in your chest that comes with remembering your past (Death by Design); the uneasiness about being too comfortable with death (Baptize); the serious but somber reminder of mortality (Waves); the wrestle — no, dance — with despair (Lightness); the unfathomable, eternal peace in spite of the dread (Piranesi); and finally, a Kierkegaardian reminder of how anxiety can be dealt with: by embracing today, and moving forward, whatever lies ahead, having faith that love, like anxiety, will always, always find you where you are (Don’t But Green Bananas).
A mortal life full of love will always be ridden with anxiety, because there will always be a fear of losing it all. But if there’s something I learned from hikes and horror movies, it’s that fear can be a positively thrilling experience with someone by your side. So let’s walk on together, bracing ourselves each day to be greeted by either tragedy or love. I have hope that it’s more of the latter. We can think about grief later
