Taking the Bait

Wanna catch rare and dangerous preds? Then you need tough, resilient bait that's up to the task! That's where bunny-girls like Aura and Mona come in.

Aura runs with a less-than-reputable crew of Panthers, a tribal group that make their living on fishing for rare or exotic sea monsters. Mona plays the part of their live-bait. Bunnies are excellent at being prey, and Mona is no exception to that. She's been eaten alive so many times, it's a bother trying to keep count now~

The typical catch goes as follows: Mona is securely tied up, and dangled overboard from the vessel's crane. She'll hang there partway in the water, until a curious pred takes a taste of her from below! Aura gets to watch as poor Mona is swallowed up, whole and alive.
The aim is to get Mona gulped all the way down to the pred's stomach. Most preds instinctively fight against anything trying to leave their tummy, so in that predicament, Mona makes an ideal "hook" of sorts. Aura reels the rope back in, With Mona inside the struggling pred's belly. They're hoisted up on deck, then once the pred is fully restrained, Aura can finally fish poor Mona back out of the given monster's gut, HOPEFULLY still in one, undigested piece o////o;
Mona is cleaned up a bit, and then dangled overboard once more, ready for another go. This repeats all day whenever they're out at sea.

Pictured here, it's easy to guess that indeed, it doesn't always go as planned for the two bunny-girls. Today, Aura is fishing for Plesiosaurs! They're notoriously difficult to catch, but just one could feed their Panther-friends' tribe for weeks.
Mona's being scooped up by one, and is understandably worried about that! It's a loooong way down a Plesiosaur's neck before reaching the stomach, and these things are HUGE! Could their rope, or even their crane handle a catch this big? The rope is reinforced and tough, but those monstrous teeth look a little tougher.

Mona's highly experienced as prey, but even she has her limits... When she last met up with Aura, Mona was rescued by her and the tribe of Panthers. She was stewing in another fish's gut at the time, until they cut her out, safe and sound, albeit a little raw.
Aura is delightfully sadistic by nature, whereas Mona on the other hand is entirely masochistic. With such very complimentary personalities, it only made sense for Aura to use her new, willing and consenting little friend as live, wriggling bait from then on! :D

In Mona's current predicament, if the metal-reinforced line snaps, the Plesiosaur will swim back out to its den at sea, deep underwater, with Mona doomed to helplessly simmer and gurgle away in its gut.
...Thankfully, Aura knows that Mona will respawn safely, like many times before, and has an Octon-form she can use to swim back up. She assumes octopus-like tentacles where her legs would normally be, to help her swim and breathe underwater. Mona will be perfectly fine, but who knows how far out at sea she'll respawn when she finally and completely digests?

... Who knows. Only time will tell. Mona's a fit, strong bunny. She can swim as far as needed. Even if she gets gobbled up again and again... and again out there, Mona always manages to make it back eventually~
While Aura waits, a hapless mermaid was already hoisted up on deck before, lovingly and skillfully tied up. Silly thing is still in a daze from having a bunny-girl yanked out of her sensitive tummy. Perhaps she'll make for a tasty snack later on... ❤
