A contrast between Boone/Shannon and Barry/Iris: Boone had 2 more years of seniority over Shannon than Barry or Iris had over each other; Boone, unlike Barry with Iris, did not already have a crush on Shannon when they moved in together; Boone was a year younger than Barry when they each met the girl. - Why would the incest taboo not form for these two? With Barry and Iris it didn't form because they knew each other as friends/unrequited crush before as cohabitants, with the former being a crucial factor in the latter. For Boone and Shannon, maybe it's because he sees her as a protegee rather than as a sister (thus feeling relieved when he thinks she's dead and he no longer has to be responsible for her). It's still messed up though even for a teacher to date their student, let alone when their first meeting was at that age.
