It's interesting because when Damon was drinking from Gail in 1994.... and was doing the drink / erase thing, but otherwise not hurting anyone... Stefan got all holier than thou (as if all vampires don't do this), kicking him to the curb & taking away Damon's ring. And so Damon (who still had his humanity off) got pissed, reacted, and killed Gail. Very similar to what was happening here with Stefan & Caroline and Stefan not leaving well enough alone. Of course... when it's Damon... folks seem to make more critical noises than with Caroline or Stefan... even though it's a pretty similar parallel. If you ask me... it was Stefan who caused both of those repercussions.
