Because the seasons are so long, there was always a mid season break over Christmas so the middle episodes of each season are usually like season finales story wise. We'd have to wait weeks to see what happened. Love Harold 'tweaking' the code aka planting the seed for the virus to help the Machine defend itself by moving itself.
