Charmed Q&A

We have finally concluded Charmed and now, we get into it!

Charmed Q&A

Comments

Liam, I have greatly enjoyed rewatching Charmed with you. I didn’t discover the show until season 3, as I am not really a TV watcher. I fell instantly in love and scoured the internet for people who had home-recorded VHS tapes of the other seasons they would be willing to sell. There was a time where you could find complete scripts and lots of spoilers online before the episodes aired for those of us who couldn’t wait. I remember a fan page dedicated to finding editing errors and inconsistency in the canon. There were also sites that told about the clothes and jewelry—who designed them, and how much they cost. Many fond memories came back to me on this journey with you. Thank you so much!

I would describe Prue as the better mother and Piper as the better older sister. Different roles. Prue is better at watching out for threats. Piper is better at taking care of emotional needs.

I disagree with you on Piper being the better older sister. Prue is better overall. Prue was forced into taking care of her little sister and protect them ever since her mom died and that came followed her into adulthood. She had that older sister and motherly traits already instilled in her since she was younger. Prue was not only intelligent, but she was the leader of the charmed ones, stradigiest of the group and had great instincts when it comes to reading people and other beings, which was helpful in their line of work and outside of that. She was the one kept her sisters in check mostly when it came to their responsibilities as a charmed ones, while protecting them. Don't get me wrong Piper did an great job and she has one of the best character development in the show despite some flaws in it, but most times she was just nagging and complaining about trying to save innocents too often to where she was reluctant to help most of the time. She often is so oblivious to things as well which is the big issue for me I had with her character going forward. She would often misses the obvious signs of evil or things taking place around her because she avoids trying to fight them or she doesn't wanna believe something because then she'll have to tackle the issue head on. Like when Paige kept telling her about Cole being evil and she just keeps disregarding it, which if we're being honest, keeps getting them constantly into the situations they're often in, which would lead to frequent temporary deaths and or wounds. Then she was also more concerned about phoebe's feelings than getting to the bottom of things. None of that should've happened with Cole and there are other stuff but I'll leave it there. With Prue, they felt like they were taken more seriously as power not to be messed with often. When Piper becomes the oldest, demons didn't care at all who they were like that and went to their house anyway to try and kill them. Plus, the original trio balanced each other out better in powers and personalities. If we go by all hell breaks loose and morality bites they were both indication of how much powerful the original trio was and how much more powerful they could've gotten.
