I don't think you're understanding Gadreel's motivation. He wants redemption. He believes what he's doing by obeying Metatronj is the right way to that redemption. He says here that he loves humanity. He's too naive and trusting, IMO. You[re 100% right about the angel plot through most of this show. It's sometmes slow and boring. This was one of the better ones.
