Because Enzo couldn't have provided the assist if Stefan didn't already have his hand plunged into his chest, gripping his heart with intent. Stefan absolutely already had his hand around Enzo's heart. Enzo forced the outcome... But Stefan still shares in responsibility. Love that when Elena had one second to call out during the drowning... she called for Damon. Overall, I do consider this to be a weaker Season. There are some great elements in it... like introducing Enzo and his past with Damon. And building up Stefan & Caroline's bond more. But it's kind of a hodge podge as a whole. Without a really strong central threat until the end here. Never fear though... The last 2 episodes will not disappoint. S5 vies for my favorite Season Finale.
