Something that always gets me is the flashback to Marcel being turned.
Marcel easily could've done it himself. Klaus was about to heal him with his blood. He could've let him heal him and then gone somewhere and killed himself. Instead he made Klaus make the choice to either turn him or let him die. And also, that Klaus listened. He could've just healed him and then got him home and not given him a chance to kill himself until the blood was out of his system. Marcel didn't want him turning to be a deception or an act of rebellion. He wanted it to be something between him and Klaus. And he wanted Klaus to be the one to kill him.
Then the way Klaus went about it. He went with a quick snap of the neck to kill him. Rebekah told Elena in TVD that when they were turned Mikael killed them all with his sword and wasn't gentle about it. It was a traumatising and painful moment for them. But Klaus made sure it was quick and relatively painless for Marcel, not traumatising.
So many characters in TVDU had really traumatising transitions. They were brutally murdered or had a really painful death, or just they didn't WANT to be a vampire, or a mix of all of them. They're also often an act of violence or hatred. But Marcel's was an act of love, and it was a sweet moment that he wanted and just good. (Contrasted with what had caused it which was his bio dad shooting him, which WAS traumatising...)
And Klaus not wanting to turn him because he didn't want to take away what made him good, he didn't want him to become like him. Klaus has always been drawn to people he sees light in. He likes when people are strong and fight back against those who hurt them, but manage to keep the light in them. Caroline and Cami being the obvious ones, but Marcel is the same. Just a VERY different dynamic.

That Klaus and Marcel scene has a lot actually cut from the episode. And the parts that were cut are actually really interesting and important. To both characters individually and their relationship to each other. I don't think they should've cut it down. Here's the link to the full scene. I definitely recommend watching it.
