This is the more messy kind of time travel, as in Back to the Future... creating too many paradoxes. But it's entertaining. I prefer closed loop time travel... where you can't change anything, you were just always meant to be part of those events. Actually... this movie seems to want to be both types of time travel. Open & branching in that Jamie can change things leading to an alternate future. But also, by giving her mom the jacket and the crystal... early in the movie her mom told her a psychic gave her that crystal... it makes it seem like Jamie was always the one who gave her those things in the past. So a closed loop there. It's fun to think about. Have you watched 'You Might Be the Killer' with Alyson Hannigan? Not time travel... but a really fun & very self-aware horror movie.
