I am not sure how long filming started for Jared to the air date of the first Supernatural episode :'D Also I think with Emily and Luke, it's as you pointed out to why I imagined Emily might've taken a shine to Luke vs how she reacted this episode. I think I even said in those early days about how she sees the vision but then again, a lot has happened since S1 in terms of Luke and Lorelai's relationships

I wouldn't do it either. And I think a lot less of Logan for saying that not doing it would be living less. Really paints him as immature and pressuring. And there's a comparison to what Richard does to Luke - trying to pressure someone into doing something they don't want to do because it's what they'd do. It's fortunate Rory eventually wanted to - at least it can be said that if she was the type who would be very against it, she might not have been there in the first place. There's an irony in this episode being named after the quote from Titanic, in that that's about Rose trying to escape exactly the same kind of stifling, pressure-centric privilege from her social circle, and yet Rory is doing the opposite, embracing extravagance. That being said, Rory and Rose's mindsets are comparable, in that they're both being seduced by the social practices of a different class who they see as liberating, led by a representative member of that class. You're usually excellent at predictions. Not so much with the 'Emily's going to like Luke' idea. Although she did seem to be excited at the thought that Lorelai had a love interest in Luke back in Season 1 - perhaps her marital difficulties have led her to lean into her judgmental society upbringing as a frame of reference. The sci-fi author Luke was talking about was almost certainly Philip K Dick, who wrote, among many others, the books on which they based Blade Runner, Minority Report and Total Recall. This episode is from late 2004, just under a year before Supernatural.
