So, personally, I really don't believe that he was in any condition to actually stop Rebekah, an original. I think it was a bit ridiculous of Stefan to blame Damon, either way. And Elijah, ever the gentleman, gets bonus points for being so genuinely sympathetic to Elena over Jeremy. Especially considering that it was Elena & Jeremy who had just recently killed his brother, Kol.
