Lorelai ran away as a teenager from a world where people put business and success above emotions and happiness. Jason is a part of that world and is making the same kind of choice now - business over family - that Lorelai ran away from. So she's running away from him for the same reason, only this time it's her emotional connection to her parents that she's doing it for. Shows how things have changed, but also stayed the same.
