Madison from 'Heart' didn't "try to do good". She didn't know she was turning and killing people. You might be thinking of the vampire Lenore, whose nest was not feeding on people and were trying to do good. The Revered Jim was also Harley in S1 'Scarecrow'. The uncle of the girl they tried to sacrifice. Sam is not saying we have to rebuilid the relationship. He wants no brotherly connection with Dean. He'll work with him, but he doesn't want to be family. His hurt is completely understandable, but so is the reason Dean did what he did. How could Dean give Sam the choice of being possessed if Sam was in a coma? But Dean should've come clean right away, I think that's where the problem lies.
