Great write-up! One of the many things that I love about Lost... it offers us different comforts as we age & rewatch.

2024-08-29 05:46:53 +0000 UTCDefinitely hope you continue with this one day. Especially since you've watched OUaT. As said above... the creators of Once had worked/wrote on Lost. So they pay homage with lots of nods & tie-ins to Lost. A good portion of the Once cast were first seen on Lost. Lost really introduced many well known faces. (The creators of The 100 & The Good Place were also big fans of Lost and incorporated elements from it.) I've watched Lost, in its entirety, at least 23 times. Always something new to take from it. And look at that Pilot... 20 years old and it looks better than many newer shows. Not dated at all. The beauty of on location, and really doing these adventurous things. When you dive in, you will definitely love it. Thanks for the great reaction!

2024-08-18 22:15:29 +0000 UTCI’m tempted to play an ‘actor Liam recognises’ drinking game, but it’s probably best not to. Reasons why I think this would be a good show to react to in full one day: 1) Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, the Once Upon A Time showrunners, worked on it, and from it they took inspiration from the flashback structure and the rotating character focus. Also Emilie de Ravin (pregnant lady/Belle), Naveen Andrews (Sayid/OUATIW’s Jafar) and Jorge Garcia (Hurley/Tiny the giant). 2) It was the big TV show of its time (2004-2010), after Buffy and before Breaking Bad and later Game of Thrones. There’s a lot of discussion to be had. 3) It’s in my top tier of 6 favourite sci-fi/fantasy shows, of which the other 5 are Buffy, Charmed, Doctor Who, Once, and Supernatural. Judge someone by the company they keep. 4) Michael Giacchino’s music and the Hawaiian scenery are amazing 5) Other, spoiler reasons Other thoughts: The original plan was indeed to kill Jack off at the end of part one, thus shocking viewers after all that focus on him, as you suggested. Then the network told them he was too interesting to kill that soon. Rose is played by L Scott Caldwell, aka Holt’s mother from B99. The marshal is played by Fredric Lane, aka Azazel/Yellow Eyes from Supernatural. I forgot that the pregnant lady and Daniel Dae Kim and the woman he’s with haven’t been named yet by this point; I had to remember not to name them above. Same for Walt’s dad (I think) and Backgammon Guy. Daniel Dae Kim didn’t speak Korean before this; Yunjin Kim, who plays the woman he’s with, had to teach him Fitting to react to this in August, as its first airdate in the UK was August 10, 2005. Watching the show in senior high school year and then in freshman year at university helped me to feel less lost (rimshot) in a new environment.
