Charmed 6x14 "The Legend of Sleepy Halliwell" Full Reaction

Comments

Just finished catching up on your Charmed reactions, so glad i get to watch the rest of season six 'live' with you. You're excitement over Piper/Leo and the Chris reveal is sooo great to watch.

Kazz (Charmed4lifekaren)

Had Charmed been operating on the shortened season model of more recent series, they probably would have been two reveals at once. But they had to stretch this story over 23 episodes.

When you consider that fact that Chris is only meant to be in his early 20s here, a lot of that lack of foresight makes a lot more sense. Agewise, he's basically where Phoebe and Paige were when they first became witches, and they weren't always the best at thinking things through in the beginning. He's responsible for his age, having grown up with all this trauma, but his brain isn't finished developing. But maybe he also expected more initiative of his younger parents and aunts, instead of all this waffling about personal lives.

kateeo

Re-watching the episodes back, they made it so obvious so I’m not surprised at all that you put two and two together 😅

Samantha Russell

Yeah, I do hate when I call things and you'd be like "He figured it out" but sometimes, it's fun to unknowingly predict and I look foolish. But it's so fun to speculate :D

Liam Catterson

There's not much more that I can say that hasn't already been said in the comments, but one thing I don't think has been brought up ... is imagine how difficult this has been for Chris. Going back in time to his childhood home, interacting with past versions of his mother and aunts who he's already had to mourn in his own time. And having them speak to him with distrust (although somewhat justified) must have been heartbreaking for him.

Cosima

I was so excited for your reaction to the reveal but you literally figured it out on Chris' first appearance lmao Also, didn't realise we'd get the introduction to Magic School this episode - fun!

Samantha Russell

This reveal was so huge. If still is but it feels different with streaming and binge watching. Remember this was like 8 or so months of guessing and wondering who Chris was. The speculation was what brought me into the Internet forum etc world at the time

Kara Michelle

I think it might pull from the IMDb official credits or something similar. I agree it's rude but you take that risk with Amazon

Kara Michelle

Another way I felt they could've done it in that episode was to have during the flashbacks when Chris and Bianca were mentioning a "Him" (which of course turned out to be Wyatt) to have them refer to him as Chris' brother. Have Bianca say something like "I know this is hard for you, it is your brother." And then have the reveal of Wyatt be the same, with Chris coming in and saying "Hello Wyatt."

DazzleFae

Oh wow. That's criminal from Amazon Prime. Was it so hard to steer away from full on spoiling it I wonder D:

Liam Catterson

Little Chris to Big Chris was done very well. It helped that they really got the look right in the young actor.

Elizabeth Gates

Oh for sure, I felt like that would've been a double whammy with the Wyatt reveal and the brother reveal in one swoop

Liam Catterson

Yeah. I kinda wish we had found out before any of the characters. I feel like it would’ve made certain things just hit so much harder. His dynamics with everyone especially…

DazzleFae

That is an interesting what-if to think about... Chris' plan seems really messy, confusing and at points not too well thought through. I'd say you're probably right, it did seem that he expected things to be solved much faster than they were.

NamlessMidnight

All good alternatives! I will always love the transition of little Chris to big Chris asking for help, that was done so well

Amanda P

I genuinely love so much about this season, but I would totally watch a bunch of "What If?" episodes about alternative ways they/we found out. Wyatt saying it would be a cool one. A random truth spell episode. A "Blood to Blood" spell. Having Chris sub in for Paige or Phoebe for a Power of Three spell. There was SOOO much potential.

Elizabeth Gates

As much as I love how they did the reveal, imo I think it would've been so much cooler if it was revealed in the Chris Crossed episode when we see future Wyatt, could've been like "of all the people to betray me....my own brother" or something lol

Amanda P

Whoops. That's definitely a problem, haha. I might have to warn other reviewers about that.

Elizabeth Gates

Glad Liam wasn't watching this on Amazon Prime, as pausing it at any time he's in the current scene from his first episode onwards will reveal him captioned as 'Chris Halliwell' at the bottom of the screen.

Ed Green

I always wondered what Chris's original plan was if the girls never found out about Leo on Valhalla. I presume he thought he could figure out the Wyatt stuff more quickly, and then just pop Leo back into their lives, especially since Piper's pain was on pause. But I also don't doubt he thinks Wyatt's more important than himself.

Elizabeth Gates

There definetely were a lot of hints for this one so not hard to guess the reveal but it still feels great to have it out in the open. Season 6 definetely is an interesting rewatch with all the small details that get even bigger of a meaning once you know who Chris is. And of course Chris's plan to save the future includes him breaking up his parents before he was born - didn't really think that one through did he 😅 I guess he never saw Back to the Future to warn him of this potential danger. Also your reactions to anything Piper and Leo related are always so relatable. I've loved these two so much ever since I've seen the show for the first time.

NamlessMidnight

YAS.

MelGoethals

Even if you basically had it figured out for a while, I can finally officially say, Christopher Perry Halliwell -- my heart. Also, while I do think he's 100% his mother's son, a lot of people will point out that he has a LOT of Prue in him -- the telekinesis, neurotic work ethic, sense of responsibility for his family, trust issues, Daddy issues, dark hair, and green eyes.

Elizabeth Gates

Also I think you realised earlier haha but it was such a good moment when you suggested Perry as one of Wyatts potential names

The craziest thing is that the writers only decided who chris was after the sword and the city. They laid so many clues so that matter so what they decided to do there would be foreshadowing, but when you watch the season again it seems inevitable he would be Wyatt's little brother when that wasn't even one of their possibilities at the start
