“I’m glad that Xena understands”
Well, she empathises with him. She was in love with her for at least half a season before Gabrielle reciprocated. She actually had to die for her to say “I love you” back.
So she gets it. But now she has watch out for the way she acts around Gabrielle around him even more. ‘Cause it’s going to kill him now that he has fell in love with her.

I’m just cackling at your reaction to Cupid’s Arrow hitting Gabrielle and you shouting “Look at Xena! Look at Xena!”
Welcome to the ship, Liam. 😆

Classic comedy. You wanna know where Xena got it all from in the wackiest, most slapstick ridiculously over-the-top episodes of the show? This is what it was highly influenced by. The Three Stooges.
You know, they probably couldn’t have Gabrielle falling in love with Xena because nothing would have changed from their normal day to day dealings. It just would have, you know, been the perfect catalyst for them getting together when Cupid bonked Gabrielle on the forehead, tilted his head in confusion, stated “Nope, that’s the real deal” and then poofed on out of there, leaving Xena and Gabrielle to deal with the revelation.

I'll answer these in short since I have some stuff to edit and not enough time to write a chapter as I would haha. For Xena and Gabbie, I think they're setting things up for a potential interest and I think S2 showed those crumbs. Maybe S3 could explore a slow burn from Gabbie potentially before moving onto building them in S4. I'd hope to see Joxer added to the main cast to be honest. I think he would bring a contributing vibe as well as potential growth for him as well as more appearances from Palaemon potentially. I'd be intrigued to see a more demanding Gabbie, as in more focus on potential conflict with Xena and of course, I'd like to see her be able to hold her own a lot better which she is already doing. And I am not really sure for story arcs in general because any arcs have been short. Maybe something in relation to Gabbie since we had her turmoil with Calisto so maybe something that has a big focus and maybe game changing for her character. More Calisto potentially since she is bound to make an appearance again. I could potentially see something family related for Xena for S3 since we stemmed into her darkness and I was hoping for that itself to be an arc for S2 and plus she had it rough so much in S2 so maybe the tables can turn for her and Gabbie and something taxing can hit Gabbie, as much as I do not want it to.

Ending a season on a comedy episode, while maybe not expected, works out pretty well here, I think. And the closing scene of a heartbroken Joxer is powerfully affecting.

That's 1/3 of the series done! Hope you are enjoying it thus far. Any thoughts on the following now that we've hit a significant milestone in the series?
1. Xena/Gabrielle:
You are definitely not "reaching" in thinking the moments of romantic tension between them is on purpose. I do not see another way to take the slow-mo shot of them nearly looking at each other after Gabrielle got hit with the love arrow. Or any other way to interpret their kiss in The Quest. What is your take on the nature of their relationship; how would you like them to progress from here on out?
2. Guest characters:
Spot on that Lucy Lawless can nail zany and slapstick. Renee O'Connor (Gabrielle), Ted Raimi (Joxer) and quite a few recurring characters do comedy quite well too (some of whom are a surprise). It's only been Xena and Gabrielle in the main cast these two seasons. Anyone in particular you'd like to see on the show more often or even added on as a series regular; or are you happy to continue with just these two as leads?
3. Gabrielle's identity:
Season 1 saw Gabrielle become an Amazon Princess (and now Queen as of A Necessary Evil, with Ephiny ruling in her stead). And we've seen her improving but not yet mastering fighting with her staff in Season 2. At the same time, her ideals on war and the greater good differ, clash even, quite a lot with Xena's (as seen in The Price). If she sticks around, how do you want to see Gabrielle's character develop for the future?
4. Story arcs:
The 46 episodes so far have largely been stand-alones. But this season more so than the last, they've deliberately left room for certain characters or storylines to recur, including: Solan still not knowing Xena is his mother, Borias (Solan's father) being mentioned heavily but not shown, Vidalus and a reformed Palaemon travelling off together perhaps to reunite with Xena one day, Xena not yet confronting Caesar after his betrayal, Joxer now being in love with Gabrielle, Draco still being in love with Gabrielle, Xena saying at the end of The Price that "[the horde] will be back, maybe not this year... but some day", and we still have Joxer, Ares, Meleager, Ephiny, Cupid and Autolycus who have all appeared more than once before and are all still alive for a return in the future. Any particular storyarcs you'd like to see them explore in Season 3?
