Lucifer 6x10 " Partners 'Til the End" Full Reaction

The Daniel and Charlotte scene really made me emotional, as did the ending. And i loved AmenaGod's fist bunp! LOL Think of it this way, if Rory hadn't gotten so angry to come forward, she wouldn't have brought Dan's soul back, and Dan wouldn't have been able to figure out his guilt to ascend. To me, that's the #1 reason that makes the separation acceptable. Lucifer finding out his calling is the #2 reason. And there's nothing to say Lucifer hadn't popped back up to see Chloe (and not Rory). The only character in this entire show that I feel is unredeemable is Father Kinley. Even Malcolm can be redeemed. I love the Reese call back, and it seems like he's on the right track. This is a near perfect ending of a show. EXCEPT WHERE WAS TRIXIE ON CHLOE'S DEATHBED! They can't use the Scarlett's busy excuse, since Trixie would've been around 50-60.

I think they established the rules for the time travel here with the reference to "back to the future" and the DeLorean in 6.03. One timeline that must be maintained to keep everything as before.

Aside from even Dan having his eternity, Liam, I love Amenadiel, but honestly, the fact that he had want Lucifer wanted in raising his child also bugs me because I kinda think Lucifer deserved it more. Amenadiel was responsible for what Malcolm did in season 1 and Amenadiel was disappointed in his own son appearing to be "just" a human, which Lucifer was more accepting of Charlie being a human. The second Amenadiel found out Rory was an angel, his supposed acceptance in season 5 went out the window. He also never went down to see Dan in Hell meanwhile Lucifer visited regularly and was trying to help him. But Amenadiel got everything he wanted in the end, an Angel son, getting to be in his son's life and being God. Meanwhile Lucifer got the shaft.

Rory is apparently 40 or 50, stopped aging around 20 (or aged slowly over all, we don't know) and they stayed in the exact same house. People would question that like Lucifer aging. Plus Lucifer could dye his hair or in theory self-actualize looking older for Chloe. They said over and over the loop was inevitable and unbreakable so I don't even think it was really a "choice." No one considered an alternative timeline. Rory wanting the timeline in which she apparently suffers and rages at Chloe isn't exactly a good thing. Chloe apparently had to deal with a lot and never moved on to a life without Lucifer, she didn't get a say in anything. Lucifer begged not to have to go through with this. Trixie had to deal with a household in which Rory, by her own words, yelled at Chloe and saw Chloe sad about everything, and lost her kinda stepfather and her real Dad, she didn't get a vote either. It wasn't just Rory this impacted, she should have considered what other people would want because it's their lives too (in a world where the loop was breakable.) If this was all God's plan (and it might have been) that kinda means none of them had free will and everything was predetermined. Fate isn't a result of choices, as Lucifer said, it's the result of the most powerful being in the universe manipulating things. Which... is awful.

+1 to everything here. I loved this entire season, even though I also understand those who didn't like the end. Was everything perfectly done? Of course not. I would have liked to see a longer discussion between L, C, and R rather than the quick promise. (Though they would still reach the same conclusions, I'd wager.) Seeing Luci at Amenagods coronation would have been nice as well. And I'm not sure how it could have been done since the actual last scene was perfect, maybe scenes interspersed into the credits, but some glimpses into their post reunion life would have been amazing. But those are really minor quibbles. And there's always fanfic!

The excuse is Rory begged them not to change her. She was who she was, badass wings and all because she grew up with a powerful single Mom. If your child is asking you not to wipe her from existence what would you do? I would have done what Luci and Chloe chose to do. I also think that if Luci had stayed on earth, popped up visited etc and continued a life with Chloe, would they have had to keep moving, leave LA when people not in the celestial know began to ask questions about why Luci never aged and Chloe did? I wonder if that would have been a good life for the girls...on the move and away from the family they knew around them. I also wondered how Chloe would have felt getting elderly while Luci did not. I did not want to see Luci (even if love transcended the visual) with Chloe who looked like his grandmother- but maybe that is just me! LOL I think the elephant in the room was and always would be immortal unchanging in a relationship with a mortal who will age and die and I think what they did was one way of addressing it. I was okay with it and understood why the writers did that. I know Amenadiel visited earth and Charlie but he and Linda were no longer in a romantic or sexual relationship. It is possible that a future Linda would have found herself another man- maybe another Sommelier! Also there was no time travel involved with Charlie so no time loops to break and lives to change. I know some people did not like the whole time travel/Rory story which led to the conclusion we got and i understand that...for me though, I loved it. I loved seeing the story come full circle and a rebellious child (Luci) have to deal with a rebellious angry child (Rory) I loved how it brought the story full circle in that way and I thought it gave us some of the funniest, sweetest and powerful scenes in season 6 so I was happy but each to their own opinion. So much of season 6 tied up loose ends for me and completed story arcs that I enjoyed. I did wonder if Luci as a healer in Hell was God's plan all along and maybe he hoped he would find that path sooner but of course an angry, rebellious child doesn't always understand parental motives and let's face it God had far too many mysterious ways! Couldn't he have just explained it to Luci- but of course Luci wouldn't have listened at the time so...and we wouldn't have had such a great series. I also loved the intimacy and two hander, three hander scenes between the cast (mostly because of strict Covid rules) but I felt it allowed the writers to delve deeper into emotional stuff and for characters to really talk to each other and tell each other what they were feeling. I did miss some of the bigger dramatic scenes/fight scenes etc but these were not allowed. I did find the episode 10 scene in the warehouse to be cleverly done, atmospheric and powerful even though it was only ever two/three people in a 'shot' at any one time...very creative. I want to finish this LONG post (sorry) by saying the biggest Thank you to you Liam for your consistently thought ful, insightful and interesting reactions. I have thoroughly enjoyed this Lucifer journey with you. I joined to follow your reactions to Lucifer and I shall enjoy re-watches from The Pilot for a while, I'm sure. I am not ready to say goodbye to Lucifer and all of the other characters just yet! It's been a blast- thanks again Liam. C x

She wasn`t full Vaccinated and she is a minor so her limits on the show was mostly because of that and the fact she had another show at the same time.

I mean the killing the Rory they had come to know and love is questionable since the Flash managed to rewrite stuff and keep Nora but then again we don’t talk about that shit

That’s what I am saying. Lucifer is being punished despite the heroic effort he’s been implied to have. I can’t help but think he’s been punished, like it cannot be a 9 to 5 job. Dan had aneternity, what’s the excuse here?

Amenadiel staying for Charlie is kinda what makes the ending contradictory and not so enjoyable. On one hand, life on Earth is "a blip" for Lucifer/Rory/Chloe to have to get over but Amenadiel and Charlie are both celestials and it very much mattered to not miss milestones like birthdays for Amenadiel and Charlie. I get it, it was about the timeline. But between AmenaGod and Lucifer something couldn't been done? It felt like Lucifer was still getting the shaft. Raising Rory making sure she grew up angry enough to kill Lucifer was also kinda twisted to do a child (even if they ask for it.)

The Trixie issue could have easily been fixed since she shot for 6x9 and 6x10 with a quick flash of the two of them together, or Lucifer calling her and some flashbacks. I think not addressing it at all (when there were ways, I saw one person on Twitter say the corvette could have pulled up to the camp and we could have filled in the blanks) was a mistake.

I don't know if you noticed or if anyone explained that the Latin word "lux" (pronounced lukes) means "light" and is the root of the Latin word "lucifer" which refers to the "morning star" or "the light bringer".

I respect the idea of Hell being a waystation where how long you stay is determined by how quickly you recognize and resolve your soul health issues more than Purgatory being an indeterminate layover until your loved ones can fork over enough cash to bribe the Pope and his minions to stamp your boarding pass to Heaven.

David W Richards

Lucifer's ban from heaven ended after s5.

MZ

Oh... and about Trixie: She was underrepresented in season 6 for sordid real world reasons: The actor Scarlett Estevez had already signed up for another show when they decided to make season 6. Reality can be a bitch ;-) The ending is purposely bittersweet but think about it: Chloe and Lucifer can now spend eternity with each other, Rory can come to visit anytime she wants, everyone else will eventually also end up in heaven - and according to the logic of the show, I think it's not too far-fetched to think that Chloe can probably alternate between heaven and hell. And maybe so can even Lucifer - because Amenadiel can surely end the ban from heaven for him. Always remember, the glass is half full :-)

Frankie

And I think the main reason they didn't break the loop / rewrite the time line is it would basically be killing the Rory they had come to know and love.

MZ

Also, once the reunion happens, both Luci and Rory can ferry Chloe back and forth to Heaven.

MZ

I think you can easily headcanon that Luci would sometimes pop up and meet Chloe in secret, but personally I feel like their love is strong enough both for each other and for Rory that they wouldn't risk it. They know they'll be reunited.
