This episode makes more sense when you realize that when it was produced, the show wasn't cancelled yet.

All five of them knew Wolfram & Hart were evil when they signed on, all five of them accepted and continue to enjoy unbelievable steps up in power and resources. But only Gunn's perks are considered "selling out", "too much" or "something to be wary of". They were acting so snotty about Gunn no fitting into the dumb grunt persona they like to pretend he is, because they just find it so unthinkable that being intelligent or white collar savvy could be a part of who Gunn actually is if given the right opportunities.
