2021-12-21 16:55:35 +0000 UTCActually I disagree, the fact that Angel is asking who she is thinking about having a future relationship with and her telling him she does think about him (although it may never happen) show they still have feelings for each other and think about each other in their futures. Buffy has never admitted to anyone that she loves Spike until she says it to him right at the moment she realises he is going to die, even then he knows she doesn't mean it, at least not in the way he wishes she did. I believe Spike and Buffy have a bond that nobody else can understand but from Buffy's point of view it is a friendship, he knows her better than anybody but not romantic. This is one of the reasons I struggle with the comics so much, they don't feel true to the characters. If you look at them objectively and not from a Bangel or Spuffy point of view, the don't really ring true.

Also, no Buffy was never really in Cleveland, she was in LA until she moved to Sunnydale, however, her wishverse version moved to Cleveland instead of Sunnydale but only Anya remembers any of this... or at least she did :(

2021-11-02 22:01:40 +0000 UTCSeason 7's reception was already lukewarm at best. Imagine how different BTVS' legacy would be if they had biffed it with the finale. Thankfully, they really nailed it and delivered one of the finest episodes of the series as its last. The bad: The amulet, the scythe, the slayer-making spell and the Turok-Han hard nerf all came out of nowhere to make that final battle winnable. Anya's arc pretty much wrapped up in Selfless and Dawn's in Potential. Xander's character continued to get the bare minimum as he's gotten since The Zeppo, and Willow's season-long story was reduced entirely to her fear of going dark again. And they never fully fleshed out Giles and Buffy reconnecting after his betrayal. The good: This season was all about development for Buffy and Spike, and they fully nailed both. Loved how The First turned the seemingly empowering prophecy about the slayer/chosen one on its head and rightfully pointed out it was a lifelong sentence of solitude, and Buffy accepting its truth led her to finding a poetic solution: change the world for the better instead of changing herself. The slayers passing the scythe to each other even in moments where they needed it most themselves was also such a lovely representation of sisterhood and empowering yourself through empowering others. With Spike, being Angel viewers really helps us understand how meaningful the term "champion" is in the Buffyverse. He went from being insane and broken with guilt at the start of the season to being the lynchpin of Buffy's success (not the amulet, his support of her giving her strength) and his decision to stay for his own redemption not just for Buffy. Side note, Cassie was right! "She'll tell you. One day, she'll tell you." I also don't necessarily think it is egregious that Anya and Dawn's stories wrapped up much earlier in the season. At least they were wrapped up correctly and wrapped up well. Faith received a nice resolution as well, with her character receiving a much needed more optimistic outlook on life from Wood's advice. Also thought the way Buffy and Angel didn't end up together but they left the door open for them to have a future was the perfect way to resolve that pairing. On top of that, this episode had many fan servicey call backs without going overboard and delivered on three top tier Buffy puns: "he had to split", "hold the line" and "get out of my face".

2021-11-01 13:44:40 +0000 UTCFrom the moment this aired, I remember there were lingering concerns about the resolution - didn't Buffy's plan deprive the Potentials of agency in much the same way the Shadowmen's original spell had? Despite lip service, only 30 or so Potentials were given "a choice" and theirs was "it's this or we probably all die"; the rest had no input. But it's still very evocative and more about the empowerment *theme* for the show; it only falls apart if you look at it from the mythology perspective. And you can also look back to 2003 and say "oh, hey, I see where they got the idea for the Captain Marvel trailer"

I am assuming that you have been warned to not watch the opening theme song of Season 5 of Angel, because the clips they use in the new theme song montage include spoilers for s5e01? Right? If not... then, consider this your warning. Because as sad as I am that you are done with Buffy, I cannot wait to see your unspoiled reaction to season 5 of Angel!

It's obvious by this point is Spike for Buffy. Her admitting that to him in the end speaks volumes of her and of how far their relationship has gone. This is definitely one of the best season finales I've ever seen. Everything is perfect.

2021-11-01 09:01:12 +0000 UTCI love this ending. Buffy always said throughout the show how she just wants to be a normal girl. Now, with every potential being a Slayer, she is. She got her wish. I also love that little smile she has at the very end. When Faith says, "Yeah, you're not the one and only chosen one anymore," and Dawn says, "Yeah, Buffy, what are we gonna do now?" Buffy's smile seems to say, "Whatever we want." Oh, and the symbolism when she jumps off the bus and looks down at the open road stretching out before her. Her future, uncertain, yet filled with hope, stretches before her, waiting for her to walk down its path. The message from James Marsters made me smile. When he said how Spike comes out just fine, I was like oh no... LOL I didn't expect him to mess with you like that. He's got a sense of humor, that one. So much fun. What a great reaction, Liam. I will miss watching this series with you. Thank you for sharing your Buffy journey with us. It has been an honor.

2021-11-01 06:48:03 +0000 UTCThis has been quite a few years. It's always amazing when youtube shows previously watched vidoes how long ago you watched them and i'm just like really? That long? feels like yesterday. Buffy was one of the first shows i watched as youtube reactors and you were one of my first reactors (with the other Liam and his buffy reactions) Still one of my favorites as I pick up some of these newer reactors. The watch has been nostalgic and i guess the rewatches almost become a you felt what i felt the first time but did you feel what i felt the 2nd time or 3rd time so the journey of experience keeps on going .......................I had so many emotions in this episode alone, the call backs had its own nostalgia ...I guess now I have to stay on my buffy graphic novels.....i think i'm on the 3rd one of season 8? I look forward to continuing that journey with you and the new ones with Supernatural. In the words of Willow "Nifty" because I feel like there's so much more I want to say but I wouldn't know where to start nor do I want to write a book about it taking up the space, so yes lets end with "Nifty".

The activation of all the slayers, that final battle... even little details, like, as they separate in the hallway, the original Scoobs split off in reverse order from how we meet them. Giles, then Willow, then finally Xander, then Buffy, alone, headed deeper into Sunnydale High. Joss may personally be a jackhole, but the man can write and direct an episode.

For the record, I don't think he lied to you. Spike does come off pretty well by the end of the finale, but at no point does JM say that Spike wasn't dust because of it. And he gets to knock down the Welcome to Sunnydale sign one last time, so what's not to love?
