To clear up a bit of potential confusion: The Red Queen is from the sequel of Alice's Adventure in Wonderland, "Through the Looking Glass (and what Alice found there)". That whole story is very chess-themed, with the Red Queen opposing the White Queen, and of course a bunch of other chess pieces and movement rules and what-have-you-not. OuaTiW is one of the few adaptations to not conflate the Queen of Hearts and the Red Queen, so that's nice! :D

2021-10-30 08:33:53 +0000 UTCWhen they first announced the idea of a Spin-off, it was first announced that it was going to be a Mad Hatter project with a recast because Stan wasn't available. Then a month later, one of the creators said in an interview that there wasn't a plan to recast anyone. My personal possible guess is maybe they put out that news on purpose to see how fans would react, and base their idea on going through with it with how the fans responded
