Hercules 4x14 "Armageddon Now Pt.2" Reaction

You have a good point but then what would that mean for Hercules? It means he’d have to stay dead - which would mean the whole timeline would stay the same. Callisto had the knowledge that Iolas would have saved her. She also had the knowledge that she killed her own family. And if that wasn’t enough for her - that knowledge - then her remembering him saving her wouldn’t have done anything. She’d still blame it all on Xena. She had the knowledge it would have happened if not the memories. That should have been enough. It wasn’t. At this point her tirade isn’t about avenging her family. It’s about power and being cruel for the sake of it because she can’t be helped.

Now we know Xena was telling the truth. Xena did not kill women and children. Her men went against her orders. Not that that ever is going to matter to Callisto. She’ll always believe she did it. As will Xena. .

This two-parter plays a LOT with established parts of this universe, including The Sovereign and the Chronos Stone (which I may not be spelling right but I winging this.) This can be a confusing mix for folks not familiar with HtLJ, but you handled it well. ... The Xena the Conqueror alternate timeline made a big impression on fans. I don’t like seeing Gabby crucified, but I do like her becoming a hero even without Xena. In fact, in spite of Xena. ... Iolaus is a great character, even when he fails (which he eventually corrects.) ... That was a great two-part reaction!

Oh, and "DISAPPOINTED!!!" Yep, you're absolutely right, that is an iconic meme out there :-)

This was a really great reaction to this epic Herc two parter and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think it's really essential viewing as you're only concentrating on watching Xena at this time as it continues the Hope storyline and also gives even more tragic layers to Callisto's complex character especially in the timeline before Iolaus resets it. The scene where she becomes responsible for killing her parents is pretty shocking and emotional stuff. And also shows Hercules wasn't afraid to go to dark places in its storylines at times too. It really also gives even more of a perspective to Callisto's trauma witnessing the assault on Cirra and gives you another look at a very dark Xena. I assume there was some unseen encounter between Xena and Hercules or Iolaus where she told them about Solan because it hasn't happened on screen. It's been hinted at in Xena before in episodes like Prometheus that there are unseen moments when Hercules has passed on information to her. My thinking is she would have liked them to have been aware he was her son in case something ever happened to her and he needed extra protection from possible dangers. And they're probably the only other two people she would have trusted with that secret. It's really hard to see that future scene though where Xena the Conqueror breaks Gabrielle's legs and to see them in a timeline where they have an adversarial relationship with a very bleak outcome. Grateful that all got set straight especially after the trauma in The Bitter Suite. I think we've seen Gabrielle suffer a LOT in this latest Xena season especially. I love Kevin as the Sovereign and i'm glad you picked up on things pretty quickly with the alternative world. Quite a big thing for a God to die in this episode too as Strife had quite a bit of screen time in Herc. A real change of pace too to see Ares totally trashed by Callisto in this one. Iolaus certainly gets a chance to shine here and i love especially that lovely moment where he discloses to Alcmene just how special Hercules is to him and how he changed his own life. Kevin and Michael's chemistry is a great flip-side special to Lucy and Renee's. Even though they are seperated for a big portion of this story, you can really see it when they're on screen.
