Yes, thank you! Wesley has flat out acted like Gunn stole something that belonged to him since Couplet and as of Supersymmetry Fred starts treating him like shit too. It makes me dislike both of them tbh

This season has a lot of issues (the whole Connor/Cordy thing being a huge one) and i feel like because of that people often downplay/ignore the love triangle when talking about this season (or at least that's been my experience). But man did they handle this triangle badly. It feels like the only reason fred doesnt ditch gunn at this point is because it would make things awkward at work. And both of them (fred and Wes) should *absolutely* know better.

2021-08-07 14:21:34 +0000 UTCI *HATE* what this pinning storyline did to both Wesley and Fred's characters; it made them both unlikeable in scenes about the love triangle. Wesley was 100% out of line kissing Fred, and Fred immediately lied to Gunn about it to protect Wesley from something he was in the wrong for. Poor Gunn has been gaslighted the entire season by his own girlfriend and friends, being told everything is fine, that he is imagining that Wesley has certain intentions, that he is the one rocking the boat. As someone who had a rough life and being forced to fend for himself early on, on top of being black and male, Gunn is someone who spent his whole life being expected by others to be emotionally strong and not in need of support even though he could really use it. Seeing how Lorne, Cordelia and especially Wesley just give him the side eye in this episode as if he is the abusive boyfriend everyone is too awkward to address just repulsed me. Gunn has done nothing but genuinely love Fred and been a great boyfriend to her. Wesley's feelings for Fred and her inability to acknowledge or put a stop to it (either by telling Wesley to stop or to break up with Gunn if she preferred Wesley) were the only issues.

I love Angel but this season desperately needed Angelus at this point even if it was a 1/3 episode event, it was a change I just needed. Angelus truly said what a lot of the audience thought or what Angel himself thinks but doesn’t say for he doesn’t hurt feelings.
