Such a huge change in Xena in only 18 episodes so far. From somebody who preferred to be alone and isolate herself to someone that’s asking if her partner is coming back. I mean wow. Forever changed. The thing is when Xena falls, she falls hard. She falls fucking hard. And it often isn’t the smartest thing to do. But heart over head.

2023-11-04 21:56:44 +0000 UTCI take back what I said about when Xena had feelings for Gabrielle in my friends-to-lovers theory. She may have never fully realized that she was in love with her yet, but there was certainly something more she felt for Gabrielle in this episode given the way she reacts to her suddenly leaving to go home. You can see her expression in this scene. She’s almost close to tears. She’s got so used to Gabrielle being around her that she didn’t want her to leave. Furthermore, at the end of the episode when Gabrielle comes back to her, you can see this huge smile on her face. So happy to have her Bard back. But I love the ending. Xena and Gabrielle being all cute and smiley with each other now they’re back together on the road. Just soulmates being soulmates and missing each other’s presence. 😍 Gabrielle: “You know, it’s kind of funny, don’t you think, that we should just run into each other, I mean, here?” Xena: “Not really. I was on my way to Poteidaia just to see how things were going.” Gabrielle: “Really?”

2021-07-05 03:42:10 +0000 UTCI felt the whole time Xena wouldn't have strayed to far so Gabrielle could find her. Honestly when Meleager threw that javoline I thought that was Xena joining the fight instead (I mean of course they had to have a redemption arc for him though) Far cry from the first episodes where Gabrielle had to convince Xena to join to Xena not wanting Gabrielle to leave.

2021-07-05 03:31:50 +0000 UTCI'm always happy when a Gabrielle-centric episode comes along and this one is very enjoyable. Her character continues to grow and delight and her relationship with Meleager (nicely played by Tim Thomerson) is well realised too, his character also suffering the doubts of his own freezing in combat. All round a nice way to show how far Gabrielle has come already in the show and how much further she can go. I also love that look of glee on Xena's face just before she leaps down at the end of the ep to be with Gabby :-)
