You can see the turn I was working on here - have these comics serve essentially as an origin story for the characters of an eventual gag-a-day comic strip set around a college newspaper.

It seemed smart at the time, and the idea is not completely without merit, but after getting about 30 of these in, I realized it wasn't going to work. Switching from a well-developed story suddenly to "the Penny Arcade of politics" felt like a rug pull, both for the audience and for me as an author.

By the time I figured that out, I was too far in and couldn't right the ship. It shook my confidence for several years, until I figured out that there was so much left to explore in the original TG story.

On the plus side, it was a learning experience and it's not going to waste. Some Blink characters will definitely be making things interesting in TG before long!
