Dad's video is gone
Added 2024-04-14 22:54:35 +0000 UTCWanted to confirm here that the April Fools video is gone, in its original form for good. I love you all so much for being so positive about that video. The full story is on a community post on my channel.
Right now, I have a 22-hour edit of all the material we don't currently have to redo. I'll be uploading that soon for Patrons, but it'll take a while to get a good upload of that. Until then, I do have a 2.5-hour edit of MY personal next video - a review of Nicktoons Unite. I can post that here if people want to see it - reactions to it have been lukewarm in the past.

Your dad is such a good speaker both as himself and in the way he managed to mirror your style (which!! genuine props to him for that). It's a dick move on Paramount's part, justified or not. This video meant a lot to you both and I hope it'll at least lessen the hurt a little knowing it meant something to a whole lot of us while it lasted. Really sending you both a lot of support after such a blow, and like so many here I'll look forward to any new projects and whatever new form this video may take in the future (the podcast format actually sounds quite nice!)

2024-04-15 16:19:01 +0000 UTCJust read the community post--- As a librarian, knowing that they are striking things that are in the public domain makes me so angry, public domain means it belongs to the freaking public (I will stop before I go off on a rant about public access to information...). I saw you commented on it briefly in how you will rework the video, and I'd love a podcast style version. What you're dad is doing is considered archival work in my opinion. He's representing these shows as they would have been watched by the public at the time and without that viewpoint some historical/social context is lost to us. Like my library posts whole episodes of shows on youtube from that time that have been digitized and subtitled--- It's important work!

How much your dad enjoyed himself was apparent to anyone watching. Even though, as you explained, the copyright situation was partially justified, the situation still sucks. Hope you can manage to find a way to get the video back in full length without it losing too much of its charme! If anyone can do it, it's probably the bunch of you.

They thought the recordable cassette player was going to destroy the music business, and recordable video cassettes would destroy the TV/Movie business. Paramount + has pretty much proved that Paramount/CBS does not understand 21st century content delivery. The worst part about this is that Paramount is, more or less, claiming they own the copyright on the public domain episodes.

It sucks about the revenue loss, but it sounds like even with the limited warning, people already backed it up, thank god. Even if not too many people have optical drives anymore, i think it would be kinda fun if fans did a literal "keep circulating the tapes" thing. Mail each other little bootleg dvds and thumb drives.
