2025-01-11 14:09:57 +0000 UTCThis is a year late, but on the topic of Alec Baldwin claiming he never pulled the trigger, it's quite possible he was telling the truth. They were most definitely using single action revolvers on set, which require the wielder to manually cock the hammer back and into the firing position. The problem with this (and the reason police forces phased out single action revolvers for double action in the late 80s-early 90s), is that it is incredibly easy to bump, nudge, brush, or otherwise disturb the hammer and cause it to engage, sending it into the bullet primer and discharging the firearm, usually while it's in the holster and into the person's foot or leg. So I absolutely believe that he didn't pull the trigger; he most likely had the hammer cocked and was not careful with decocking or accidentally bumped it and fired what turned out to be a live round. Regardless it shows carelessness and disregard for gun safety, from both Baldwin and those on set.
