As far as shows go, this show really feels like a lot of Kyoto Animation shows with an emphasis on visuals and music, so things like Violet Evergarden feel similar even if they're totally different. As far as pacing goes, the show took forever to become an anime (manga started in like 2005, anime aired in 2019) so they take their time with the pace unlike a lot of shows that have harsh deadlines. Hope that provides some insights!!

Based on the shows that they watch, I think this is something new to them. I remember when i watched Vinland for the first time and I was so excited about the fights and that's it. By the time the famous episode 24 came around i realized i missed so much of the themes and beauty of it and a re-watch now put this at the top for me. It may be slow at first but after its all over with, i can honestly say there's not an episode i don't love. There's a reason its a legendary rated manga and I'm sure they'll come around. Relax y'all. If its something they haven't witness before they're gonna miss some things. Just wait and it'll catch on for them.

Ive watched Naruto, Death Note, JJK, stuff like that. You can enjoy both styles of anime. But I agree not everyone likes a slow burn anime like this.

Hard disagree. They should just watch and enjoy the show with whatever expectations they have. This contextual information is not at all required to enjoy the show - which should be obvious since the target audience is almost certainly not full of people with a lot of historic knowledge. Also, you probably don't mean to, but your comment ends up having some spoilers.

Let me clear up something real quick otherwise you guys are going to have a worse time going forward. Canute ISN'T being built up as a great warrior. Canute is ROYALTY. Canute is YOUNG. And young Royalty aren't supposed to be ON the battlefield. Not everyone in viking times were born to BE warriors right from the get go. Also, you need to stop thinking about this story like a viking anime, this is a HISTORICAL fiction anime. That battle on London DID happen. Thorkell the Tall DID fight there. Prince Canute was a historical figure that DID exist (maybe not as the secret warrior queen that you want him to be, but he's famous in his own right). Even THORFINN is based on a historical figure. If you try to stop trying to put magic into things and just accept it as pseudo history I feel you'll appreciate it a lot more.

Watching 2 episodes at once might help. Sometimes it's just not good experience to wait 1 week between episodes but Vinland Saga will get really good soon in terms of fighting and story in my opinion. Second half gets the story more interesting I would say.
