Attack On Titan REACTION!!!! | 4x5 | "Declaration Of War"

Comments

Loved your guy’s reaction and commentary! Your guys discussion is very in depth and I love how insightful and into the story you guys get! Though I do feel that you guys misinterpreted Eren quite a lot this episode (which is understandable since he is so mellow now). I feel this episode clearly showed a maturity of perspective in Eren and that Eren feels empathy towards Reiner and his enemies, and no longer solely wants revenge like he used too. An example is Eren’s response when Reiner asked if Eren came to fulfill his statement when he said he would “make them suffer and die the worst deaths possible”. Eren says he “vaguely” remembers that, showing he no longer is thinking about revenge, and then Eren looks down at the floor like he is ashamed at what his past self said and he tells Reiner to forget about it, showing Eren no longer feels that way. And Eren saying that he is the same as Reiner shows that Eren is identifying with Reiner, almost like he is comforting Reiner, and he helps Reiner up. Eren was definitely trying to trap Reiner in the basement, but i don’t think it had anything to do with messing with Reiner like you guys seem to think. Eren says he has no choice, so he isn’t doing this because he wants. You can also see this in how Eren says that he understands that Reiner and warrior crew were trying to “save the world” and had no choice when they attacked the wall, showing the change in Eren’s perspective from vilifying Reiner to empathizing and humanizing him. The drastic change from his old volatile self to his mellow state shows that he no longer holds onto all of his volatile rage, but he “keeps moving forward” because he has no choice. As you can see in the episode, Eren also has Reiner and himself listen to Willy’s speech to see what Willy will say before he acts, and Eren does not attack until Willy declares war against Paradis. and because of Willy’s declaration of war on Paradise, Eren’s statement about having no choice but to destroy his enemies is proven right, since Paradise will be attacked and likely destroyed if he doesn’t do this. Even knowing that to the rest of the world “he is the bad guy”, Eren feels he has no choice, so he smiles during the declaration of war as if he has made peace with the terrible outcome that is to come. I feel that this all shows a lot of growth for Eren mentally but also makes him more level headed and as a result, much more capable and terrifying.

You guys are extremely underrated honestly. So glad to have found you early in your career.

Snow

What the person said about attack titan powers is true, but it's a bit of a spoiler because it would be revealed down the story. Also, you guys keep mentioning Titans as a different race or civilization, when in fact it was just Eldian Empire(Eldians=Titans), committing all those atrocities against other nations and cultures.

Charlie Parker

You guys should consider moderators, next half of S4 is insane and full of things that you may get spoiled on since you'll be reacting as it comes out and there were a lot of bad actors last season spoiling people (consider this an offer if you do end up wanting mods for comments)

Of course manga readers show up to spoil stuff now. Comments in the first 3 seasons were fine and now we can't enjoy their discussions without worrying about a comment they read. Please don't comment if you don't know how much has been revealed in the anime.

Globalist

Yeah just don't read the comments there's too many stupid people that can't help but talk from the perspective of knowing the story already, they're just incapable.

Jay Craig

hi guys I enjoyed your reaction so much. but don't trust the comments, it could ruin the show for you, trust me

ahmeddoss

Yeah it isn't personal anymore, which is even scarier for some reason. Eren heard this dude unify the world to commit genocide against Paradis. You see that faint smile he has when Willy is declaring war, like he's made peace with what's about to happen.

Alejandro Gil

You can't keep looking at Eren as this screaming kid from season 1/2, this episode made clear that he doesn't want revenge anymore

Azmaing1

Please don't read the comments 💔

MG0

Please dont read comments for this show anymore......

Sierra's pichu

Attack Titan's abilities will be answered so, just ignore all comments, because they will spoil you! i don't know why people explaining some stuff that didn't even happen yet... x.x

lmaokiji

The ED soothes the pain a bit lol

Jag_227

Eren doesn't have a choice in some sense.

Jag_227

as will said, all the events that cause the uprising in paradise Grisha and Reiner were all external so the king was doing a good job, and there was no fighting against any of the external factors cuz as said in the episode Karl fritz was set on enjoying his 'temporary peace until their enemies came to attack' because he thought their sins were so great they deserved it also in s3 remember in a flashback Rod and his brother Uri tried to convince their father, the king at the time, to stop everything, but he wouldn't because of the inherited vow and when Uri inherited the founder he changed because having inherited it he now was held back by the vow and became the same as his father was(which willy explains eren not being royal shouldnt be bound by)

Maybe Marley embellishes the truth of the matter, but I think its safe to assume the Eldian Empire did some pretty terrible things when they were in power. It's never really explicitly covered, but I agree that the pure titans are probably a result of the Eldian Empire's experimentation with human/titan genetics. This resulted in the injection science which Marley retained after usurping power. The only thing that isn't clear to me about this theory is why Eldian blood is special that they become titans and other peoples do not. My guess is that the injection reacts in some way with the Coordinate (or the "paths" that Eren talked about at the end of s3), and the fact all Eldians are connected through this thing. It's an interesting lore topic.

Jag_227

After seeing the perspective of the Eldians in the internment camp we feel bad with what Eren just did. But like he said, in his eyes they were the bad guys and he accepted Reiner for what he believed in. So what Eren is likely doing is not about revenge because Willy just declared war and Eren had his twitter feed ready. Quick counter by Eren

Cation
