V0.7.5 Progress Report

Hey everyone,
First of all, I wish you all an amazingly Happy New Year!
I can't believe it is finally 2026. It's been two years since my coming out, and time has been moving slowly since then. That's probably because of the number of treatments and changes I've been looking forward to and then gone through after agonisingly long months of waiting for them.
But those things also meant that, in particular, the second half of last year was not as productive as I had planned, and I vow to be better this year. There aren't any major surgeries planned for a while, so things should be calming down.
So, let's look at the main features of the first patch of 2026 that I'm currently cooking up, with hopefully many more to come this year.
New Action System Inventory

As promised during the last patch, the Dice Action rework was always meant to be just a base for more strategies to be added on top. To achieve that, I'm creating a way to add items to any action. Up to 3 items can be added to any action. These can be gifts to give to your friends to strengthen your bond, or items that will grant bonuses, and those effects can be combined to make powerful strategies.
Card Effects

So... BMO Files is currently on hiatus because I've run into several problems during development that aren't easy to fix. I'm still thinking about it, but I may have just made a mistake in the early stages that means I'd have to completely rewrite everything. So I've felt pretty bad about all the amazing art not being appreciated. But I will say that lore-wise, bringing some of the cards to BMO TV just makes sense, since they serve as the base technology for June's chemical formulas. Why wouldn't some of them be used in the game show?
Obviously, they will not function exactly the same as in BMO Files, and I've changed up the design a little bit as well, but there can still be some story references. And maybe using a card too much could have a downside? You'll have to try it out to see, I guess.
For this patch, I plan to add 12 different cards. There is room for more, specifically also for cards that could be unlocked by certain branches, but I don't want to end up with hundreds of cards in this game, as I have planned for BMO Files.
Status Effects

In order for card effects to be interactable more consistently, I'm going to introduce clear status effects with a new menu that will give you more information about what is currently going on with your character's stat interactions. Some of the currently existing effects will be translated to this system, like the Week 2 Compulsions. I hope this system will also provide greater clarity into the calculations running in the background. I don't think I'll be able to convert all existing status effects to the new UI, just because it'll be difficult to determine what should be here and what shouldn't. I think this can happen more over time, though, as players give feedback.
With the new card mechanic, I'm planning to add at least 8 new status effects that need their own events, and such.
Removing Sex Minigame Everywhere
I can admit when something did not work, and I think we've had the experimental rhythm mini game for sex scenes for long enough. I'm not going to delete everything out of the game yet, but I'm going to try to switch all the triggers to the new Dice roll system.
In the past, I was vehemently opposed to removing it, specifically because it would have meant replacing it with simple randomness (like a dice roll). Now I'm doing exactly that, but the difference is that I'm adding tons of variability and strategy to those dice rolls.
And with that new system being in place all over the game, it also does not make sense for sexual activities to use a wholly different system.
But the minigame is still being called in all sorts of random places throughout the game, and I'll try to catch all of those and come up with a new way to call them.
I've failed at this several times before, and I'll keep trying until it's done.
Katelyn's "True End"

The last patch introduced the new Doomsday endings, starting with Abigail. This is Katelyn's time to shine, and together with their Date stories, there is a hint of what this story will contain in the patch title. Do I need to say more?
I'm still waiting on some of the graphics. (To be honest, I've been waiting for them for quite a while, and I can't really speed up the art pipeline since I'm kind of dependent on our main artist here.) But he assured me that they will be done soon, and that we'll also get the scenes from Himari in time for the next patch. The thing is that these scenes contain two types of images. New dialog characters with a lot of poses and expressions, as well as two big sex scene graphics (that I'll then also have to animate).
So all of these graphics are taking quite some time to make, but I think it's worth it because these scenes are part of the game's big finale, which really needs to feel worth it.
There are some more minor changes planned, but I hope you can see that there is a lot of under-the-hood work to be done to make all of those new effects work properly and to continue to add more clarity to the game.
I hope you're excited by all the possibilities that we might be able to get for the real core gameplay this patch, and will continue to update you on the progress on the Discord a little more.
Best,
Kim

just wanna say if it doesn't work on a mac with a chip, you can run softwareupdate --install-rosetta to install the old Mac OS then run chmod +x /Applications/YourApp_osx.app/Contents/MacOS/YourApp_osx Basically chmod +x then drag in the app. all in terminal. it gets the game to work.
