V0.6.6 Progress Report

Hey everyone,
I'm back from surgery, and I took a little bit longer than expected to recover enough from facial feminization surgery. I underestimated how I'd feel afterward a lot and also how intense the surgery actually was. But I'm back. Still not at 100% energy levels, but I manage.

I got back to work on BMO TV and was hoping the artists would finish lots of stuff while I was in the hospital. But who knew artists needed constant reminders to finish their jobs? I usually check in with them regularly, but since I was away, a lot less got done than I expected. I do have some backlog of graphics ready to implement for that case, but this has completely thrown my plan for this patch out of the window.

It was supposed to introduce the grand finale of the Doomsday timeline, but that will have to wait for the next patch now. So, the theme may seem a bit out of line with the rest of the patch cycle, but it still introduces something that I really needed to do for a while and that I realized was way too far back on the roadmap to write the rest of the game.

1. The second male contestant

Remember how the moderator introduces Marco by saying that he's in a contest with the other male character? And then there never was another male contestant? Well, here he finally is. Damian is less macho than Marco. You will be able to romance him and also have him as a partner for some fun time, of course.
I'm not sure yet how much of that will be part of the next patch, but his initial graphics are implemented, and it's just the writing that is missing now. But it is the base of a lot of stories that can now take place regarding the relationships in the house. So this is making me excited to finally be able to write a lot more main branch stories.

2. Marco Expressions

 
So much testosterone in this patch. Marco is also the next character to get the whole expression treatment in all of his dialogs. I still hate this kind of work, but thankfully, Marco doesn't have all that much content to reimplement yet. That is also because his rival (Damian) hasn't been implemented yet. So let the contest between the two begin... in a future patch coming very soon. For now, I'm getting ready by replacing his character art in all dialogs.

3. New Doomsday Rooms

 So... there were supposed to be two new Doomsday rooms (as well as a second new character) for this patch. All of that is not done yet. But I hope that we'll at least get one new room soon. As you can see, it has been worked on. I don't know when I'll get the finished version, but I'll count on it to be done in the next week,

4. Doomsday Ally Interactions

As you hopefully know by now, the fate of the allies in the Doomsday Finale is kind of uncertain, and the ability to interact with them has not been introduced yet. That'll change with the next patch. You will be able to feed them the glowing orbs in order to talk to them for a while, and they will play an instrumental role in the grand finale as well.

I have stopped giving exact estimates for patches for a reason, but I'm going to say that I'm still aiming for this patch to be completed in September. I'm aware that it is not the biggest patch, but that is due to my own and the artist's apparent absence. I want to deliver something new to you as soon as possible, and I hope you're still going to get excited for some of the content. We'll hopefully be back for v0.7.0 with a big bang.
