I didn't actually stop working during the last few days of my holidays. I know.. Shame on me. But I've been laying next to the pool while doing so at least and I've achieved a new major milestone for the game.

V0.8.0 comes with a complete overhaul of the mutation boon system (including rebalancing), as well as showing you if the next host is easy or challenging to play.

Just to be clear... the different difficulty levels per host have existed before. You just couldn't see it before mutating.
An easier host may be faster, but taking on a more difficult one rewards you with more specialization points after you've achieved world domination.
That's a new reward in v0.8.0 with which you'll be able to unlock new virus specializations for your next run.

A lot of people have been asking for this and I was hesitant at first, but I just went with it as a replayability mechanic.
Hope you enjoy this new version and as always let me know about your experience on Discord. But this time I'm only going to read it when I'm back in Germany for sure. I mean it. No, really.

I like the game so far, but my Ryzen3250u which usually handles light gaming flawlessly, starts to struggle as more cells or units are displayed on screen. An option to disable or reduce the amount of graphical effects would be much appreciated. The first hour or two of playing were super smooth, but then the more upgrades I bought the laggier it got.

But the increased costs per mutation is already reduced to be less than the power of the boons. It was way slower before. It’s okay to find that tedious. Just.. it‘s probably not made for you then, which is fine. Idle games are a special kind of game that is very much about enjoying the grind. It‘a definitely not a game to play as a main activity. No, the two areas can‘t be maxed. You only get specialisations after completing a full run, which is about 20 mutations. Specialisations are a replayability feature, not part of the first playthrough.

The mutation boons don't help nearly enough compared to the scale of the upgrade. 100 more production per click or 5% more production is a drop in the bucket compared to the 5,000,000,000,000,000,000 you need just to get the first useful unlock. Also, do arousal and occipital lobe ever max out? Everything else maxed out when I was in the trillions at most, and those two are in the 10ab/sec range and still haven't maxed. And how do you get the specializations? I haven't seen those yet and I'm on the 5th mutation.

2022-10-16 12:04:36 +0000 UTCAre you on a multi monitor setup? I‘ve seen that on monitors with two different resolutions, the click position becomes a bit off, but there‘s nothing I can do about that.

I don't like the fact that most idle games just give you a huge pile of progress if you turn it on three month later, so the idea of the cap is to create ceilings for that. Not sure about the balancing since the decrease in pace per mutation has already been massively decreased. I don't think there's a wrong way of picking boons though. ;)

2022-10-13 13:42:19 +0000 UTCOh ok. I like the game (I've spent "years" of my life playing clicker games in the past)... the replay/reset just feels a bit slow each time through. Thus my request... cause I'm finding it hard to find a "good" balance of active vs idle play. The pause feature is making me "need" to more active for me, as I need to babysit the pause. And thus if I'm already babysitting it, I mind as well click... but it is quite a bit of clicking, which then makes me want to be idle. But.. I can't be idle too long cause then it'll just pause, so I mind as well click... what a viscous cycle I put myself into.. (resulting in me actively playing for 8 hours yesterday and a very tired finger, lol.) I wonder if I'm somehow playing this "wrong." Like picking the wrong upgrades or something. I don't actually understand what many of the upgrade options do.

Specifically in the context that it feels like the current balance is a long term idle game, I hate when I go away for 6 hrs.. the game ended up paused after ~20 mins cause I finished current tier "upgrades"
