this is one of those few movies where i love the toxicity of it all lmao. all three mains are so messy in their own ways that they all deserve each other. art and patrick are playing out their own repressed feelings for each other through tashi by competing for her in order to impress/excite/jealous the other. tashi picks up on it immediately that first meeting in the hotel room which is why she makes them kiss. the movie says tennis is a relationship, and patrick and art achieve that between each other in their final match. the hug at the end is symbolizing them finally having their moment together that they’ve been avoiding all their lives, and tashi gets exactly what she wanted the whole time: to watch some good fucking tennis. there are a hundred different more concepts in this movie that can be picked apart, but that’s the simple tldr
