One of my fav BtVS episodes as well. My fav song has always been Walk Through the Fire. I loved the Xander/Anya retro vibes song as well. And Giles voice is my fav. I don't think the show goes into the spiritual aspect too much or at all so the demon isn't specifically the Devil himself. I think he's credited as Sweet even though none of his many names were ever mentioned in the episode itself. I think Xander is a particular sort of fella for not admitting to what he did after the first body dropped. I also heavily disagree with Giles' song hinting at the fact that he thinks Buffy should be springing back to her old self way before now. He thought she'd been through a literal hell dimension full of torture and is disappointed that she needs time to adjust and recover from trauma? People in this show expect way too much of Buffy just because she's the Slayer.

This episode is for the most part universally praised as one of the best in the series -this episode gets a lot of love from the buffy fan base so I don't think you will get many who don't like this. It has also been heralded as one of the best musical episodes of any TV series. Not to say there haven't been others but buffy is credited with being at the top in terms of quality.

You are in luck because this episode is praised as being one of the greatest BTVS episodes of all time so your love for the episode is with the majority.
I like that you truly enjoyed it and you got to have fun with an episode because as you mentioned itโs been very dark lately so this episode was unexpected but worked. This was definitely one of the greatest tv musicals of all time.
