Neglect is a form of abuse. So that's Buck's (and Maddie's) deal with their parents. You tend to automatically side with the parents of any character without giving them the benefit of the doubt (same with Hen and her mum). I get the sense that it's because you might have a good relationship with your parent(s)? It's just fair to assume that if a character isn't thrilled to have their parent stay with them or visit unexpectedly it's because they don't have a good relationship like you do. Maybe the reason isn't revealed in the first 5 seconds but you do have to read into other things like the subtext of what's being said, body language, etc. And, no, kids don't have to forgive and "move on" from whatever their parents put them through just because they're their parents and "probably mean the best". Excusing horrid behaviour from parents just because they're the parents is not a good thing.

2025-03-16 12:18:52 +0000 UTCYou really seem to have a negative opinion of Buck, no matter what he does. The fact you couldn't really sees Buck's POV when his parents were neglectful. Remember he only had Maddie around until he was 10 or 11 then she left. He had another 7 years in a house where hid parents didn't care.
