Her asking him if he was ok with it was just respecting their partnership and friendship. She doesn’t need his permission per se but they did have that big fight about how he worked with another songwriter before and how she almost felt replaced so this was also probably in order to avoid that happening again. I take her asking as them actually having healthy communication and making sure the other is ok. She didn’t even want to work with Gavin. I get it. Austin was jealous and just couldn’t think rationally. He didn’t even know why he was acting like that at first. He was being selfish but he apologized, they are kids, still learning. He had the maturity at his age to realize that. But think about it like this. They work together pretty much everyday. Now here comes some suave guy literally taking up all the time that he usually has with Ally. Ally doesn’t have time for him at all anymore. Going from spending everyday together from hardly anytime at all is not an easy adjustment. Or course he’s going to feel some type of way. Also Austin absolutely knows music theory and in very well versed in many instruments. He knows music, he would definitely know that scale. That scale is actually very very simple and one of the first things you learn about when studying music. So why Ally said she’s never worked with anyone that knew that much about music like she did I don’t know because that’s not true. She’s worked with Austin long enough to know that he does know all that.
