It’s just part of eddies storyline, that he’s lost job and doesn’t feel he’s worthy of Joey and her dad maybe convinced Eddie he wasn’t worthy and maybe he feels he might need to get himself together first. You were confused some with Audrey early with Pacey, not realizing they had a bigger story going on with her as episodes went on. It’s not that writers are changing their mind every few weeks
