DevLog Friday May 5th

In order to keep everyone informed about the progress of our project, I have made the decision to create a devlog/blog.

I'm thrilled to share that we've achieved significant progress on our project, particularly in terms of our user interface (UI). We've meticulously selected a UI that complements our game's design and now are actively building the necessary scenes.

We've been experimenting with various screen transitions to ensure a smooth and cohesive player experience, and it's been exciting to see these come to life. Our aim is to create a UI that's intuitive and easy to navigate, allowing players to focus on the gameplay itself.

 

Our team has been making excellent progress on the behavior tree, which is integral to creating a natural and immersive experience for our players. We're determined to ensure that our game's character feels like it's truly living within its environment.

While we're pleased with the progress we've made so far, we recognize that there's still some fine-tuning required to guarantee that all animations activate correctly. Additionally, we've been working on pathfinding to give the character more freedom to move around the environment naturally.

   

In other exciting news: we've finalized the music for the bedroom space in our game! It's a great feeling to have that aspect of the project locked down. We believe that the right music can really enhance the overall player experience and help set the tone for the game.

After much discussion and experimentation, we ultimately decided to go with a lofi style of music for this space. We feel that this genre is a perfect match for the bedroom's chill, laid-back vibe and will create a relaxing atmosphere for Symbell to immerse herself in.

We're thrilled with how the music has turned out, and we can't wait for players to hear it for themselves. We're confident that it will be a highlight of the game and add to the overall enjoyment of the experience.

 

Roadmap:

We've been putting in a great deal of hard work and dedication to ensure that we meet our deadlines and create a game that's truly enjoyable for everyone. While we've made some significant progress, there's still more work to be done, particularly in terms of obtaining a few additional assets to get our first mini game up and running.

We're excited to reveal that the mini game will have a Dance Dance Revolution-inspired gameplay, which we believe will be a fun and engaging addition to the overall game experience.

Our goal is to have a limited build of the game done by the middle or end of summer. This limited build will serve as a demo for the game, allowing players to get a taste of what's to come. We're committed to ensuring that this limited build is of the highest quality possible, so players can truly enjoy the experience.

Despite the challenges we've faced, we remain confident that with continued effort and collaboration, we'll be able to bring this project to fruition. We're passionate about creating a game that we can be proud of, and we're excited to see what the future holds as we continue to work towards that goal.
