[Early Access]: KaiMei moments 💙❤️

These two are personally one of my favorite ships. They are a power couple. It’s also 3am so I don’t know what else to write about these two - I think I’ve stated enough in the works in progress posts already 😊.

Additional Info: MEIKO and KAITO were developed alongside each other, and programmed to complement each other’s voicebanks. Their vocal range are relatively neutral, so they harmonize very well together; MEIKO has a lower alto range, while KAITO is a high baritone.

Meiko was released in 2004 as the first female Japanese Vocaloid, and Kaito in 2006 as the first male Japanese vocal. Despite being developed at the same time, KAITO was released two years later due to programming issues.

It is even confirmed that these two were originally going to be released as a canon “couple”, but this was scrapped. Because doing so would defeat the main purpose of a Vocaloid: to be a blank slate.

KAITO and MEIKO two are commonly headcanoned by fans to be the mother & father of the younger Vocaloids (Miku, Rin Len), since they are 1) coded to be older, and 2) the first two (Japanese) vocaloids to be released.

On the ship’s Wiki Fan Page, it states that some people have negative feelings associated with this ship - mainly due to the fact that in older works, Meiko is seen using Kaito as a punching bag. (Disclaimer - I was not aware of this older, unhealthy portrayal until I did research 😅).

Perhaps some more fluffy, wholesome works can help mend some negative feelings with this couple? I can dream
