Google Alternatives & Bible Translations

Quite shockingly to me over the past couple days, despite my constant managing settings to disallow Google's Gemini AI to scan my data and force itself upon me, Google has twice in 4 days straight up filled my whole fucking screen with this prompt apropos of nothing! Autogenerating authorless AI Overviews on every other google search seemed not enough I suppose.

I've moved from Google Chome to Firefox years ago, and now I'm pivoting to using DuckDuckGo instead of google search cause this was the last straw in a long string of forced AI features I simply never asked for. The last commitments I have here are Google Drive and Gmail, so I am interested if anyone has any suggestions on any preferred email & cloud storage providers that focus on ethics, privacy, consent and functionality more than shaping how I think.

For anyone unable to disentangle from Google, there are articles to help you turn Gemini off, generated en masse on the regular because they keep injecting it deeper across email, searches, photos, docs, meets etc.

ENTIRELY SEPARATELY:

I'm in the market for a new Bible and find myself bouncing around reading and researching all the different translations as often happens. (People ask me about which translation to read all the time and I never have the greatest answer) Anyone got favourites or least favourites, insights to the strengths and weaknesses etc? I tend to gravitatae towards the New King James Version and I kinda know why but having a web of personal preferences to wade through always helps orient oneself.

thx

Girls Life Application Bible (NLT) Pink text on light pink bible paper; every couple of pages it has a section telling u why having sex with boyfriend is bad and why you should hold off on kissing till marriage; illustrated insert pages with explanations of olden day "girl" rituals; gives u advice about wearing "raunchy" clothes and how that's a bad idea (my childhood bible)

i tend to view KJV as less of a translation and more its own work atp. for me its merits are the writing and how it has influenced western literature and culture. if i ever want "real" translations i usually cobble it together from like five different sources. i like king james despite its faults for my purposes. it kinda just occupies the same space as like the odyssey yk
