August Release - Unholy Ascension - The Shackled Conclave

Greetings Friends!

The Vastari Empire has fallen, Lotharius has won the war and taken over his old Empire, and after his victory he consumed the Main Blood Well in the capital. Granting him immense god-like powers. He now rules the continent with unholy powers and a ghastly fist. Welcome to the Unholy Ascension.

This month of Season 4 we will focus on The Shackled Conclave. Made up of Lotharius' most despised enemies, the Shackled Conclave represent an undying resentment. Not even death will stop the Kai'zhar from exacting vengeance – his or yours. The souls of his old adversaries are transformed into his frontline fighters, ever driven on by jailers that will punish the slightest hint of independent action.

At the end of Season 4 - Unholy Ascension, all patrons that have been subscribed for all 3 months (August to October) will receive Lotharius, Supreme God of the Undead, as a reward for being loyal "subjects" :D
Yes, this model will be able to proxy another certain Supreme Lord of the Undead. 130mm base and a huge avatar of death on it. The model hasn't been made yet though, but you will be able to see some progress at the end of the season if you join our Discord :D

This month has been supported by yours truly! I've wanted to learn to do some nice supports for a while, and now I've finally taken it upon myself to learn. I've had some good lessons from Tableflip Foundry, and I've done my best to get some good results. But a disclaimer, they aren't the same quality as Tableflips, as I am still learning. But now I am able to quickly fix my models if any of you have issues, and I can continue to improve. It's good to know how your own models work when printing, and this will only help me improve my quality over time!

If you have any issues with my supported models, feel free to tag me on discord, comment below, or PM me, and we will figure it out together.

Every model hasn't been much of an issue, except for the Unshackled models, they have been quite the challenge to get right. So please don't hesitate to contact me if you have issues.

Zandreck, The Gatemaster

First and perhaps greatest ally on Lotharius' rise to undead dominion, Zandreck is the spirit of an ancient mage who had mastered the art of teleportation. After his untimely death at the hands of his apprentice, he teleported himself out of the afterlife to avenge his own murder, then decided to stay around and research ways his teleportation could be extended to others.  He found a prime target for experimentation in Lotharius' blood wells, a vast network of intelligence, magical power, and control, and began working his own magic into them. Soon, he began approaching travelers and offering them a quicker way to their destinations, provided they were willing to pay a price. At first, Zandreck was more than willing to simply take the knowledge gained from these early tests as his reward.   Soon though, the fabled „Crossroads Spirit“, as he came to be known, would make greater demands. When he appeared to larger groups of people, he would offer them a choice: Leave the soul of one of theirs behind for his services or pay an unspecified toll. If the travelers chose the second option or were traveling alone, Zandreck would, through a devious hex he had worked into all his blood well gates, sap a small amount of the souls of every single person using his pathways. Zandreck did not yet know what exactly he would be doing with all the souls and fragments he gathered over time and simply stored them inside the wells for safekeeping.  Now, as Lotharius had risen and called upon the powers of his blood wells, Zandreck had no choice but to pledge allegiance to his superior. And Lotharius had just the idea of what to do with all these nicely kept souls. The "Crossroads Spirit" still offers his service to every willing wanderer, but now he does so with a greater purpose in mind.

Vor'dhuun, The Jailer

Once, Vor'dhuun took pleasure in the torture of the enemies of the great Kai'Zhar Lotharius. After the grand betrayal that brought the empire to its knees all those centuries ago, he took the same pleasure in torturing his former allies. Lotharius observed the actions of a man so depraved with but a passing interest, as he had greater scores to settle. Nonetheless, when the time came to subjugate the great number of Geists the Great Rot had brought forth,  his thoughts turned to his old ally and enemy.   Lotharius ripped the soul from Vor'dhuun's body and shackled it in iron and ethereal matter, then bound a screeching phylactery filled with the souls of those Vor'dhuun had wronged most upon his back. He carries the keys to let them loose, but not those to free himself of the treacherous vessel. A single moment of inattention would surely result in him getting torn to shreds by his ghostly slaves. He is only able to re-seal the ravening spirits with the help of a bound hex crafted by Zandreck, but each time he releases the horde in combat, he fears that the hex may one day dissipate.

Soul Flayers

In life, these Geists were men without loyalty or compassion, but the greatest of ambitions. In death they have been turned into wretched abominations, unable to move without command. In battle, they sling great censers that hold part of their own souls, each strike inflicting equal anguish on themselves as on the enemy. If an unlucky Soul Flayer comes close to a second death, his Jailer overseer can choose to unbind the lock that each Soul Flayer carries and offer its soul up for a fate worse than any death could be.

Keiroth, The Executioner

In the days before the great betrayal, Keiroth served as Lotharius' executioner. It was also him who decapitated Lotharius' courtiers personally. The Kai'Zhar has not forgiven the coward's  trespass. Now the remnants of all these kill proudly announce to the world the names of those he murdered in the name of traitors. there can be only one rightful emperor, and Lotharius makes sure that his reinstated royal executioner will never forget his name.

The Unshackled

The enemies of the great Kai'Zhar were as numerous as the grains of sand on a beach. Now, his legions are just as plentiful. Each of the Unshackled suffered an unceremonious death. A blade, starvation, or sickness - the only unifying factor is that they died in chains, and it is those chains that accompany them into the next life. They no longer bind them physically, but spiritually - to a chosen warden who forever torments them with promises of freedom and a guiding beacon. In truth, the Unshackled don't realize that when their locks are turned, their chains will begin to tighten and pull them towards an even more horrid fate.

The Shackled

The most horrendous fate that Lotharius and his jailers could dream up, the Shackled are fragments of souls, collapsed Geists and useless dregs bound together with astral chains into a screaming, contorted form. The thoughts of many minds course through the same body, each pulling its limbs in different directions. They are merely pointed and lashed in direction of the enemy before turning into a shrieking whirlwind of blades and pain.

Souls of the Damned

These great cages contain soul fragments collected by Zandreck that are not yet ready for processing into new minions. A few however contain special, greater souls that have been locked in with those who were especially vicious in their time. They serve as both punishment and holding facilities, and they are often used to siphon all the souls from a fresh battlefield, or even to inflict terror on the enemy through the horrifying screams of those trapped inside.

I am so happy to be back with ghost models again! This month has been so fun to work with, and I am looking forward to 2 more months of this!
