Jarh'Krull, the Tundra King

Tundra King Jarh'Krull is special even among the seldom-born two-headed trolls. While most two-headers merely combine the intellect of two maverage trolls with each other, Jarh'Krull's heads have a degree of independent thought, tactical understanding of each other, and total mastery over different disciplines.  Jarh, the right-handed warrior, trained with the best of his tribe since he could walk. Even using only one hand, he could batter around the toughest hunters of his tribe by the time he reached adulthood. Krull, on the other hand, the left-handed shaman, was always busying himself with imitating his tribe's shaman and wise-man. He mimicked him so well, in fact, that Krull became a potent warlock without formal training. He would never reveal what patron granted him his power, but in recent times the answer has seemed clearer.  On the day of his proving, the troll-ritual for entering adulthood, to be integrated into the tribe as hunter, gatherer, builder or wise-man, Jarh'Krull chose the most extreme course of action. He first challenged his tribe's old chieftain Krogg to his title, and then the shaman Shrunn as well. Unwilling to let this insult go, Krogg and Shrunn agreed to the challenge on the condition they could fight in tandem – after all, Jarh'Krull was there as a duo as well. With two sneaky grins, he agreed. Krull imapled his chieftain with a magic icicle as he approached into melee distance, and Jarh bludgeoned the shaman to death as the old troll had prepared for a mage battle.  With one fell swoop, Jarh'Krull had become the supreme authority over his tribe. All the trolls looked to him for guidance now that he had removed their two pillars. And Jarh'Krull had a certain idea... frozen meat was getting boring after all that time.

Jormunhögr, the World Wyrm

Only the oldest tales tell of a great tree that shaded the entire world. These days, none believe them. How could such a thing have existed without leaving a trace? The unfortunate reality is – these tales tell true. In the time before murals, paintings and written word, before Man, Elf, Dwarf or Vastari, a vast tree bathed the world in endless night.  Tales that are still told speak of a worm that gnawed at a tree's roots, and through years of biting, felled it and grew to become a snake. This is a legend that downplays its own magnitude.  The worm is none other than Jormunhögr, the world wyrm, feller of the great tree. Many tales are told of it in hushed voices, and few can claim to have seen the entire beast. Around campfires, the tale is told that if you see Jormunhögr boring its head into the earth, you will not see its tail end enter that same hole for three whole days. Mothers tell children that they should not stray close to caves for fear of being snatched up by one of its hundreds of arms and passed along the entire chain of limbs for hours until they are tossed into its maw. Others still claim that Jormunhögr is responsile for every single underground cavern and sandy desert, having eaten away the rock and excreted it as fine powder. The tales are as manifold as its arms, and it would not be unwise to walk the path of caution when the ground rumbles.  No matter how many of the stories are true however, one thing is for certain: Jormunhögr has found a sort of „ally“, a creature that it finds amusing enough to work alongside . It bores tunnels that its ally demands and has eaten more than one unlucky village to make room for a host coming from the north.

Tundra Hunters

The trolls of the northern tundra commonly live in small, scattered tribes. They tend not to get aggressive unless approached and value calm and loneliness. With Jarh'Krull's rise, this has changed. More trolls have banded together under his banner than ever seen before in a single united force. Their hunting behavior has changed accordingly – they venture far south and will often not return without at least a handful of scouts in their packs.

Tundra Hags

The Hags that coordinate the marauding troll tribes are old, cunning, and always itching to prove their attitude's worth in fists. They order other trolls around, lay claim to captured food, cook it according to their whims and finally distribute it among the hungry tribe-folk waiting for their share. When they take a little more for themselves, none dare challenge them. Nevertheless, they're willing to lend a hand on a hunt all the same, be that applying bandages, setting traps, or good old-fashioned fighting.

Hag Cauldron

Uncooked food is bland or does not quite agree even with trolls sometimes. While they are not above snacking on a raw seal, they would prefer it stewed with a hint of thyme, a few potatoes, and preferably even more meat.

Final Notes

Hope you will enjoy this frozen month! I had a lot of fun playing with Ice materials.
A little note, the Lore is on the way, Drakensgreed has been a little busy lately, but we expect to post the lore tomorrow!
Tableflip foundry was unfortunately in a crazy thunderstorm the other day which caused a blackout in his building, so they are a little behind on pictures and videos of the printed minis, but they have all been test printed! So you'll have to wait for a bit to see the images of that :)

This is all for now, hope you will enjoy this month's models!

And as always,

Happy Printing,

Frederik
