I'm fine with "fake animals" being Zoan fruits, since I sure don't see many dragons flying around or dinosaurs doing their thing but plenty of people still know them, plus there is a dragon Devil Fruit. Though I wonder if there are other mythical variations of the Human-Human Fruit, not just Buddha & Sun God: Nika. Humans believe that Gods made humans in their image, so what if there is a a Seraph fruit? Or maybe even a deity from different religions, like Thor.

Kong, I can definitely see as just a particularly powerful Ancient Zoan, he is basically a monstrously large, tough, strong and smart great ape. Things from Skull Island like the Warbat and Skullcrawler could also count as Ancient Zoans, since, despite their size and ferocity, they don't have anything 'mystical' about their abilities. They are simply extremely large, extremely dangerous animals. However, I refuse to believe that Godzilla, Rodan, Behemoth or Ghidora could be anything but Mystic Zoans, because a giant nuclear-fire-breathing reptile/ dinosaur/ dragon/whatever you want to call him, a living volcanic eruption shaped like pterosaur, a mammoth that literally creates its own ice age, and a three-headed, lightning-breathing DRAGON are creatures of myth and legend if I ever heard of them.

"Normal" Zoans already can reach bullshit levels if the user is able to overcome animal mind/will while Awakening, as seen with goddamn Lucci, plus Kaku in his battle with Zoro* is even more bullshit than that and transcend a lot of what one can consider/define as a Giraffe, pretty much getting into Qilin/Kirin or Questing Beast territory, the legendary interpretations of the Giraffe in Chinese and British mythologies respectively. * In this fight his Awakened Zoan form get more dragon-like, scales, a flame-like fin running over his spine, the works, kinda like the Qilin or the QB. So yeah, I see unnecessary adding Fake Animals from the get go, and see it more like a possible extreme in an Awakening scenario, something like a Sub-Species Balance Breaker, to use a DxD equivalent.

Like keeping simple ala the Indominus PV mentioned or some of the animals from Avatar like Lion Turtles would likely work fine, but where does it stop? What is the line between ‘fake’ and ‘mythical’? Easier to just keep to real ones. Plenty of those as is. Hell go with extinct ones like the Dire Wolf. Don’t have to stick to just ancient Zoans.
